hey guys
i took my r9800 pro out of my computer and put it in a friends to see what was wrong with his when i plugged it back into mine, i booted my PC and forgot to plug the molex into the card, coz im a noob and just forgot it needed molex power. so the PC was probably on for a minute or 2 beeping and the card having no power supply thing. now, on windows and in games, i get these massive artefacts like big ugly polygon things that just look f***ed... im sure you know what im talking about it has to be overheating because when i put a big ass fan next to my PC, and let it cool down it stops. i just dont get why it would just start doing it? is it coz i didnt have the power in the card for that minute, and now it runs like 50 degrees hotter and is half fried or something? is this definitely a video card problem as well? im pretty sure it is, ppl said it could be my monitor, but i really dont think its my monitor.. could it be my ram? cpu? thanksfor your help |

but i really dont think its my monitor.. Plug another monitor in and find out. could it be my ram? Test you ram with Memtest+ for a few passes. cpu? Test your cpu (and ram) with a good Prime95 frontend. Yes, in that order. Just running a game won't do s*** for troubleshooting, as it stresses your graphics card, ram and cpu all at once, making if hard to pinpoint which is a problem. I'll assume by "Windows" you mean in games, because it's a little hard to get polygon artifacts just in Windows like that :) last edited by parabol at 11:14:09 16/Oct/05 |

Ahuh, check the fan is still running fine, is it a gexcube? If so, they seem notorious for dying fans :p Better Q, is it still under warranty?

it has to be overheating because when i put a big ass fan next to my PC, and let it cool down it stops. Go and get one of These. |
