sup

i bought a laptop today...a tight little centrino 1.4ghz toshiba

problem is, when i brought it home i connected it wirelessly to our hub. for some reason, the laptop and every other computer on the network slowed to almost dialup speeds, when i disconnected it everything went back to normal.

i took out the network cable from my PC and plugged it into the laptops network card. same fukin thing happened, ie. download speeds of 2kb/s etc.

what do i do???

Has it got a fresh install of windows on it or has it an old install with a million programs / spyware etc. using the bandwidth?

I hope you did format this PC when you got it man. Sounds like the laptop is lagging up the network. Try doing all the spring cleaning stuff on your computer (format, defrag, spyware check, anti virus) check there is no firewalls or anything going on.

suggestions:

windows update is raping your connection

too many pcs on the network (try turning off one computer)

you havnt got windows update downloading new patches automatically in the background? (or other updates for that matter - spyware/antivirus/hell, even adobe has autoupdates now ><)

edit- beaten by like 5seconds :(

if it was a ram problem it wouldn't be affecting the other computers on the network imho
