Different strokes for different folks.

They all seem happy, so thats the main thing. Maybe you should be a bit more tolerant of how other people choose to socialise.

the majority of the people on this planet wouldnt call playing a computer game socialising... so im jumping on the majority bandwagon and saying that its strange for someone to do that..

Your 'majority bandwagon' is a moot point. The majority of people on this planet live well below the poverty line and probably hanve NFI what the internet is, much less give thought to the complexities of social interactions by the people that use it.

whats to say that they didn't have an 'outdoors' social life as well ?

and just because they socialise over a digital medium, it doesn't mean that the friendships and relationships are less valid than 'real' ones.

Also,i'd like to point out that you're criticizing online social interactions on an internet forum. you roll 2D6+4 irony.

about to say the same thing.

Iev met quite a few people on here I socialise with offline. I didnt come here to find a wife, but when you spend ~6 years chatting to people eventually you will generate enough common group between you that an offline meeting is a natural progression.

Korbs,

I am not condeming online relationships, but i disagree with them being the same as friendships/relationships built on the outside. They are quite different. You get to know the person from a different perspective. I believe people cannot really get a good idea of someones personality simply by interacting with them online.

I competely agree Tiny :)

The whole issue is rather subjective though. While you and I might not feel we can get to know somebody online, it might be enough for others. I mean, you don't need to know the nuances of someones personality to be friends with them.

With the way things are going technology wise, i think this sort of thing will become more common (and socially accepted) in the future, which will be a real boon for people who aren't terribly comfortable with 'traditional' forms of socialising.

It's all superficial online. And you can change "friends" in an online environment weekly if you desire. Your never really connected to a person unless you have RL contact with them. The first stage is usually by phone.
