Its a really easy situation for people to view the footage and make up their own assumptions about who raided, why they raided etc.

The hippies latched on to this story claiming that guns were put to heads and crap like that - whenever hippies get involved the story goes completly over the top.

Police raid rave party in Spanish Fork Canyon
Party's over: 90 officers from several agencies cite 60 at the event, which had more than 400 people in attendance
By Michael N. Westley
The Salt Lake Tribune

About 60 people were arrested Saturday night when police officers busted an illegal rave in Spanish Fork Canyon.
Those arrested were cited on a variety of charges including the possession of illegal narcotics, weapons violations, DUI, illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor, disorderly conduct, assaulting a police officer and drug distribution.
The youngest of those cited was 15 years old, said Utah County Sheriff's Sgt. Dan Gilbert.
Police in Utah County have monitored several raves this summer and have grown increasingly concerned about their legality and

then the response from the kids who went to the rave

Partygoers at a rave in Spanish Fork Canyon that was busted by police Saturday night say officers used brutal and excessive force to clear the crowd.
As many as 90 police officers from several agencies, including SWAT members and major crimes investigators, stormed the DJ-driven dance party around 11:30 p.m. dressed in full SWAT gear and holding automatic weapons.
A helicopter announced the police presence as it crested a nearby hill and began shining a spotlight on the outdoor dance area, said 19-year-old Scott Benton of Logan.
"The cops just came in wearing full Army [camouflage]. It was basically brute force," Benton said. "I had a gun put in my face and was told to get out of there."

During their two hours at the DJ-driven dance party, undercover officers had observed a multitude of illegal activities including the sale and consumption of drugs such as cocaine, ecstacy, alcohol, methamphetamine and marijuana.

Drugs are bad.

Yeh I saw the vids & talked to a guy that was there on irc ... pretty f***ed up imo. What amazed me was when I talked to other american dnb fans that didn't go .... they just said "that's what you get for holding a rave in salt lake city" I'd be fkn spewing if I'd paid to goto that & got shutdown before the major acts went on.

I actually support the raid.

Its been reported that they found a 15 year old girl who OD'd on E. Not only that, but the bouncers were activly dealing drugs to the people who were there.

If they had organised it peoperly then at least the people who had OD'd could get to a hospital rather than being left in the middle of the country.

I really dont know why they had to have guns, but it seems that anything american has to have a wealth of guns and explosions so i just see it as the way americans do things lol

You can believe the mormon bible-belt propaghanda if you want, I'll take the first hand reports of people that were there. I have seen 3 new reports that said there was a girl "OD'ing on exstacy" ... wtf does that mean? She was incredibly happy or something? They had full mdedical staff on hand... if she was incapacitated they could have handled it. The OD report was obviously just to incite anti-drug support for the authorities.
I saw the vids with people getting threatened with machineguns (does that make me a hippy if I see that?) & people having dogs set on them. For a bad permit? It's f***ing overkill. American's always have guns, it's part of thier constitutional rights.

Here are some quote from knick ( an international dnb dj that was supposed to play there ) :-
There was about 1000 kids trying to leave in the backdrop, peacefully. Next thing I know, A can of f***ing TEAR GAS is launched into the crowd. People are running and screaming at this point. Girls are crying, guys are cussing... bad scene.

The police were rounding up the staff of the party and the main promoter went up to them with the permit for the show and said "here, I have the permit." The police then said, "no you don't" and ripped the permit out of his hand. Then, they put an assault rifle to his forehead and said "get the f*** out of here right now."

Bleh. f*** da po-lice.

Well, i do agree the force was not neccesary however,

Perhaps the rave did need to broken up, I dont care what anyone says, dealers and drugos need to be ratted out. ITs about time someone took charge of the situation. ITs a shame some innocent kids got caught up in it, there must have been someone there the feds were chasing or something, they wouldn't send in the military for no small reason.

I got nothing against raves, provided they are organised properley. They should get dogs to sniff people on entry, like at the big day out. It was so funny seeing a bunch of retards lined up getting bundled up into the paddy wagon for having drugs.

Of course police are gonna use guns, can you imagine what would happen if 90 police rocked up with out them and tried to shut it down? They would have been laughed at and told to f*** off.As Lowgoz said....one of the charges was weapons violations, and i think every one knows here that american police dont f*** around when it comes to that sort of thing.

a girl "OD'ing on exstacy" ... wtf does that mean?

Im no doctor, but maybe stomach seizures, passing out, dying maybe?....im sure one of the medical people here can tell you what happens when you OD on drugs.

People don't overdose on ecstacy, they have an awesome time on it! Instead of busting up a rave where there would prolly be zero violence, go catch some criminals that are worth catching.

please tell me this is a troll. on the off chance it's not, how the f*** would you feel if someone pointed a gun in your face, at an event you had paid to go to, that was (as far as all promotional material you had seen) legal?

yeah, you don't point a loaded gun at someones face, guns can go off without any human interference, so its f***ing dangerous to point one at someones face.

I wonder if the Shock and Awe tactic worked for them?
In one of those stories it was said that the police wanted to make sure those involved in the illegal deals were given a clear message.
'DONT DO THAT SORT OF s*** HERE'

Also, if you are going to these raves and you had a clue, you would know that drugs abound in those sorts of events, the bigger the event the more suss stuff going on and the more extreame it is. So if you goto these events and look the other way in the eyes of the police you are only helping the deals go down by accepting it.
I'm also sure that an event of this calibure would of had some decent prises for the police to find in a snap raid. Perhaps they knew of certain people attendig and wanted to make sure they cought them and not let them escape with the rest of the crowd.

All that being said, if I was there I would of found it to be over-the-top force. I would also think again about attending another one there..

I spose the police got their point across. :/

Whether the authorities were in the right or not, I've decided that in my line of thinking the authorites acted like gutless bullies..

You don't see them doing that to a bikers rally now do you?

I can guarantee that there's a s***load more drugs at one of these types of events than any softcock emo rave party

Whats your problem scoogex? if you disagree wih someone you don't need to mouth off, this is a public forum of discussion, if you don't like it then dont READ IT. Obviously you get some type of satisfaction by talking down on people. good luck with that.

and i suppose there's never any drugs at say, splendour in the grass right ?

so since its music we don't like, go the police! they'll never do it at a rock concert right ? :)

look at the bigger picture eh?

I'm all for them doing it at any gathering where illegal s*** is going down. If busting a couple of rock concerts that I go to means less people do drugs then I'm all for it.

I don't know how much faith you can give to the reports by the people who were actually there attending the rave. Unfortunately there most likely will never been one completely honest story that comes out about it.

shame it wasnt a towelly gathering

i know who would be more likely to cause trouble, tahts for sure

ffs, is people popping pills really that bad?

no one is forcing anyone else to do it

you know the risks involved with doing it, its personal choice

as for splendor
there were obviosuly drugs everywhere, and there were coppas everywhere
the cops were only interested in people being idiots

and thats how it should be

leave us people enjoying ourselves alone ay?

Even if the profits from people popping pills goes to into giving some kids an ak?
I'm sure that is one way the money ernt from drugs is spent.

a high percentage of my friends (me included) do drugs

we are all professionals with degrees

at what stage are they going to catch up with us?

and even if they do, its our decision, not anyone elses

plus, ill run with cigarettes are legal and easily do more damage to lives than any other drug

Not having a go Spook, but what does being a professional with a degree have to do with anything? To me it just sounds like you can afford to buy more drugs.

There's not enough studies out there to see what the long term damage is caused by the use of recreational drugs. So while you may have an opinion on their use, the full after effects are still not yet known. Maybe thats why we have so many growing cases of mental illness, etc. It'll be interesting once they put out some studies and answer everyone's questions.

I know people who turned out the same. One guy was 17, then hit the weed, use to be an extremly intelligent person. Now he sits in a corner all day ever day, staring into space, freaking out constantly.

Another guy, hitting the pills hardcore, compeletly changed his personality, cant enjoy himself unless hes popped...
