Oh its in rm, so you might need this http://qgl.org/tissue

Its also in the diggnation video http://www.gamearena.com.au/files/details/html/18249 at about the 22 min mark.

aparently octupus can open a screwtop lid of a container filled with food and droped into their tank.

There are stories out there of them escaping their tank (they can escape through a 1cm hole becauyse they dont have any bones), crawling across to another fish tank, taking some fish for dinner and going back to their tank while the owner sleeps.

Big thread on OCAU about it !

lol @ podcast. What a stupid word.

I think Maddox says it best. =D

The following is taken from here:

http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=banish

Podcast: Someone had the revolutionary idea of taking a compressed audio file and putting it online. Yeah, doesn't sound so sexy when I describe it for what it is, does it you morons? It would have been a great idea if streaming audio wasn't already around for over a decade before the word "podcast" entered the lexicon. Man, I can't stand the word "lexicon." Talking about all these s***ty words has made me start using s***ty words. I'm so pissed, I just slammed the door shut on some kid's nuts.

Podcasting: It's snob for "streaming audio."

So true. haha.

Apart from the 1/2 an hour of waffle by those two nerds. The video was interesting. I had no idea octopuses could take down a shark.

Eight long strong arms & incredibly flexible body.

A ridgid fish with only really big jaws. Not really a match. Like lots of things a shark is only dangerous at the front end.

That before or after you scream like a schoolgirl when you find yourself in the same tank as a shark and piss yourself?? Its probably you pissing yourself that would kill the poor thing.

Yeah that was not a very big shark, certainly wasnt a threat to "that" octopus... I am sure there are other sharks that would have had a go... whether they would catch/kill "that" octopus is a different story!

If I came back as another species, i would want it to be either a croc or an octopus...

croc - ability to survive and regen rocks!

octopus - an incrediably smart species, the computations to change texture, shape, colours... certainly rivals the adaptability of mankind!

Cephalopods are very cool critters to watch... if I was wealthier I'd setup a marine aquarium with cuttlefish... those f***rs are really odd.

I'd be interested to hear the feedback of that setup HERMITech! I've been reading a lot about marine tank setups , the nitrogen cycle, protien skimmers, etc... I'd really like to know if a cuttlefish tank would be too much hassle for me to maintain... I'm pretty lazy but never had a problem with fresh water fish tanks before.
Stuff like... how regularly do you need to test the water/change the water, how easy/hard it is to get salinity right n stuff like that.

Such monstrous sized beasts do exist. But only a few instances have ever been caught on film or photo. As they stay hidden in the vast deep dark reachs of the pacific. I think there are also atlantic squids, but i don't know how big they are.

You wouldn't want to see one in it's natural habitat. lol. Bad news.

However, submersible robotic cameras are fairly expendable due to somewhat low cost. They might do the trick one day.

Actually, sharks are covered in dermal denticles, so any part of a shark can do damage :P

Its probably you pissing yourself that would kill the poor thing.

Urine is waste products filtered from your blood mixed with water. As a result, if you pee in the water it smells like blood to a shark. So you'd probably die from the feeding frenzy... ^_^

Your useless information for the day!

Well aware of that C.T . But a Shark doesn't exactly attack people, or other creatures by rubbing them with it's corase sandpaper like skin. :)

You are also correct about the urine bit. Funny and true that. Don't pee in the sea. heh.

Who's for a trip to seaworld then?? I wanna see Evis take on a shark with his bare hands.Sorta sounds like something Acetame would say actually. Now im no shark expert, but hitting a shark on the nose will do what besides probably piss them off.Would have to be a bloody good punch, cause you know being underwater will hamper that punch some what.

According to the Mythbusters 'Jaws special' punching a shark on the nose can deter them but it wont necessarily stop them from hasseling you. And if youre coming up against a big ass shark, I think youre going to need a fair bit of force to do anything about it...

yea with robotic punching arms attached to an upper body (which had meat attached), pneumatically actuated and he held it from inside the cage.

exactly.

that is a f***ing tiny shark, its barely even a shark. my dad catches snapper and perch bigger then that ffs ;p

give it even a 8ft bronzy(a decentish size shark-still not big at all for a shark) and see who comes off second best
