If, like me, when the Internet breaks you suddenly find yourself rapidly running out of things to do, you would have quickly noticed the slaw on the .au side of the pond over the last 24 hours. Official word is a broken link to the USA, which has had local ramifications (those being that nothing worked). Everything seems to have stablised a little bit, but overseas connectivity is still, shall we say, fairly blah.

The following is information received in a Telstra outage report:

80% Capacity has been restored.

Cable has been cut approx. 70 KM out of Singapore

Cause of cable cut unknown. Possible earthquake.

Estimated time to repair cable 5-7 Days.

So, sorry for the downtime to QGL over the last few days. Word is there will probably some more problems along the way - reduced capacity, etc, as alternate routes are used instead of the primary Telstra link. Hopefully it will all be sorted out soon though.
