Saw over on IGN that Sony raked in over US$97 million (over $180 million .au weeny dollars) in the first 24 hours of its release. This slapped down Sega's Dreamcast, who didn't sell anywhere near as many - even though the shelf price was US$100 less. Go Sony!

Its a pretty big stroke of genius - Sony really proving (again) that they are forward thinkers and leaving a lot of other players to eat their dust. I'm looking forward to getting one to stick under my TV so I can forgo the rigmarole of getting my DVD stuff working from my PC to my TV.

hmm, i read a comparison of the games commign out and dreamcast looks to have an edge, plus id never buy a ps2, cause dc takes normal cds so you can download and burn games for it. my godi was poseesed by the evil game pirate demon, i didn't really knwo whati was saying

you can pirate ps2 games too tho. i think they work on a boot disk system the same as the psx pirated games. Im not sure how its done, i just know it can be done.

Yeah there's plenty of sites on the net dealing with psx2 chips, but are you really gonna fork out $800 then mod it yourself? Not me, and until you do all your HK psx cds won't work either..

Dreamcast is definitely the console of the moment.

Sony are making a loss at each unit they sell, so yeh, they are the ones getting owned. They are going to make their money from Software....But i still think the DreamCast owns the Playstation 2.

Ummm - you really don't knwo what you are talking about do you? PSX2 games are not on DVD - they are on a unique type of extended CD. It they where on DVD it would be simple.
