Hey guys, a friend of mine is looking to get a few tats done and we're looking for a top quality place. We've been to Wyld at Heart on Charlotte St a couple of times to talk to the guys there, but they always seem to push on getting larger designs(my friend is quite a petite girl and doesn't want to be totally covered in them). Anyone had some good/bad experiances they want to share and any recommendations?

well by putting the ink into the dermis it lasts pretty much permanantly due to the stability of the cells of that layer of skin

What ever she does don't let her get anything on her arms and certainly not a Tramp stamp above her ass. It's no longer cool and has been done to death by every peice of trailer park trash with a pair of hipster jeans and cheap g-string.

Although I will say this. I once saw a girl with her entire left leg done with the art and characters from the Dark Crystal and still to this day think it was one of the best Tats I have ever seen.

I went to Westside Tattoo a while ago to get my ink done. It was only a small one and they did a good job of it.

Not a help for TK, but a girl who used to work here got a cartoon graveyard over her entire stomach (Think "A night before christmas") it looked f***ing TERRIBLE. And she will most definately regret it! (She was 18 and DUMB)

I went to Westside Tattoo a while ago to get my ink done. It was only a small one and they did a good job of it.

I also got my tat done at Westside Tattoos at West End by a guy named Loz. Really nice bloke, and did an amazing job. I'll be going back there again for my second.

i love that frank frazetta death dealer pic on the dudes back (first image posted by groganus), that's awesome. the octopus & the one below it are mad too :D if only we had tattoo artists that good in brisbane i'd consider getting one.

Make it colourful and psychedelic... not so gruesome and violent.

kool-aid man is f***ing awesome, although i'd have OH YEAH under it.

west side or all star are the best.
my thoughts are unless you are getting something massive and really detailed any shop will do. but if you go in and it looks really dodgey dont do it.

Westside and Allstar are the best, i would recommend Westside Tattoo in West End, i'm getting tattooed there on Wednesday actually, if you want to see what their artists work is like just look at their myspace.

As long as it looks clean and they talk you through all the health/safety side of things, and they can show you pictures of their work, they should be fine.

That spider man one is awesome. Best I've seen.

We went into Westside today, going back on tuesday for the consult. Place looked very professional, and had quite a zen feel about it upstairs.

f*** me drunk. That spiderman tatt is f***ing awesome, really love that glossy look it has.

Rachi / Link @ Allstar Tattoo is also a good bet, although I don't think Rachi is taking anymore bookings until Oct.

Good tattoos are all about the shading and linework.

If the artists portfolio does not contain examples or awesome shading/linework walk the f*** away.

From the looks of it Matt Cunnington has the skills from Westside.

Just got back from Westside, a mate just got one done, turned out f***ing awesome. I'm getting mine done there tomorrow, going to hurt like f***.

Tattoos only hurt if you're getting it done in an area with next to no flesh. Its just more annoying that the prodding is constantly there it just feels like a tickle after awhile

Its not like its a pain that makes you want to run away, its bearable, but it definately hurts.

its more annoying than painful. i got my chest done and yes where there is no meat it f***ing hurts across my sternum and collar bone hurt that most but i was no where near enough pain to stop.

yeah its dumb to say they dont hurt, there certainly is pain involved no matter where you get them.. the amount of pain will change however.

the tatt's on random areas of my arms hurt, but not as much as the tat on my chest... the chest was more painful cause i had to steady my breathing as sudden movement on my chest could cause the artist to slip.

i'm trying to put together a design for a half sleeve but i keep changing my mind on what theme.
