Hey guys,

I need to recover an Exchange Mailbox Store from an NTBackup job. I'm up to the part where it's asking for the Database Server I want to attach the recovered mailbox store to.. Problem is, I've got no idea how to differentiate between a recovery store and the production store.

If anyone has any experience with this, please give me a yell. MSN address is djhotchips_at_hotmail_dot_com. Or PM me with a phone number and I'll give you a call.

Is there an IT problem you encounter where you don't ask someone on QGL to do it for you?

Mate, I'm currently up to my neck in bulls*** requests and problems at the moment.

I'm juggling more support tickets than I can really handle, and every now and then, I'll post to see if anyone here has encountered this problem before.. So, how about you either post something helpful or just ignore the thread?

Have you called microsoft support? sure you pay a couple of dollars for the call, but they're brilliant and will usually stick out a problem with you for as long as it takes. Chances are they can talk you through fixing the store rather than having to restore from backup.

And how are any of us any different? Learn for yourself or pay someone to come in and fix it.

Backup the backup then it doesn't matter if you choose the wrong store

from memory last time I had to restore an exchange from a really badly crashed store, I used a ghost image of it and the PDC to run a fake exchange server and restored to that. I can't rememeber how I then moved the store back to the real exchange server though :D

that was back on server2k/exchange2k
