Yer, format is the only way... unless you want to dual boot. But if you have NTFS you won't be able to dual boot with win98.

it will be dualboot but first u gotta install it ...i'll c what i can do ... i'll let u know if it works

but i think
- boot with win98 bootdisk
- goto cdrom drive
- cd i386
- winnt

this would install win2k ...i think

I can't remember exactly what you install first when dual booting win2k and win98... I know if you do it in the wrong order it is f***ed though, I think it is win2k last... someone will know for sure though.

one idea MIGHT be,
convert C to NTFS, leave D as win32
when you boot your computer using a 98 boot disk it wont detect the C: and class D: as the windows 98 "c"
and then re-install 2k or "repair" it
meh, i got NFI

Rodolphe: 98 first i belive, then 2k into a seperate folder or HDD

Win2k last 98 writes over the Master Boot record thus making 2k unbootable till you put a boot manager on. Whereas 2k installs a boot manager and puts 98 in it as a boot option.

I think you're able to "uninstall" xp through the add/remove programs list...then choose which OS you want to downgrade to
