what do you need it to do for you?
that will help you choose which product to buy or help you decide you don't need to buy anything. |

Nod32 + Spybot....
I used AVG for about 6 years happily however I really got sick of the update popups and false positives so I purchased for the 1st time in my life an antivirus product and have never looked back! I have no need for an outbound firewall since Im the only one who uses this computer and im not in the habbit of launching random exe's or downloading cracks/warez or any other random crapola. |

For all it's criticisms I think this is one thing that Windows Vista is good at. Out of the box, no real need for a third party net security app.

DO NOT GET NORTON 360!
Dad has always used the regular Norton on his computer and that resource hogging piece of s*** was bad enough... when he upgraded to 360 it just raped it. Probably really good protection, but FFS it turned a half decent PC into something that was essentially f***ed in a matter of months. |

For Anti Virus, get Kaspersky
Run Spyware Dr only when you want to run a scan, remove it after your done. Think of it this way, if your a mechanic, you wouldn't walk around after you finished work holding a tool kit all day now would you? Use Firefox or Opera Nortons = Resource hog Spyware Dr is becoming the same. Spyware Dr & Trend Micro (depending on which versons respectively), can hang machines as they both access the same exclusion list (documented issue on Trend Micro's site). This may be resolved by now tho at the time I discovered the issue (Nov 07) they had no expected fix for it cept other than "Early 08" |
