I'm looking to buy a coffee machine within the next few weeks, does anyone have one, or know of one they would recommend? Ideally I'm looking for something that grinds the coffee beans too.

hey, i was thinking of doing a thread on coffee machines;
we put in a new kitchen at our place, and i traeted myself to a coffee machine just got a cheapy sunbeam, doesnt grind beans, but makes an awesome coffee! would have loved to get a machine that grinds the beans as well, but costs go up significantly; the sunbeam machines got good writeups for their coffees (but were a little noisy) definately worth buying though; |

Breville 800
http://www.breville.com.au/ssl/cms/images_cms/large_800ES.jpg m8, I picked this up a few years ago, and I can tell you what; it is bloody beautiful, makes a mean expresso\capachino and is solid & real easy to clean. Only set back is no coffee bean grinder, but I picked one up that sits next to it, so all is good. cheers and cupsie up! |

i got a coffee machine. they have a great novelty gadget factor but after a month you get sick of cleaning the c***.
then, in accordance with the 12 month rule, it ended up in the tip last month. |

All you need to do with a home machine is backwash the groupheads once every two weeks assuming daily use, if thats too much you should probably have maids

Ideally I was looking at something under $500, but the price range for these things is insane! I think the Breville looks like a good option so far.

I got a really nice Gagia classic from Ebay for about 500 bucks.
The cheapest I saw it in retail was for about 650. Makes great coffee, although if you are serious about coffee you should also either a) get the coffee ground to that particular machine at a Merlo shop, or b) get a decent grinder. Half the trick to making a good espresso is having the grind just right. |

My parents also have the good ol Sunbeam, and my mums an absolute coffee nazi, and the LOVE it. And so do I because every time I come down to visit I get the best coffees anywhere. Highly recommend. As spook mentioned, doesnt have a grinder, but much cheaper option just to buy a decent one seperately.

We got a Subbeam "cafe" range (LOL sif it's a real "cafe" pro machine). Better than average but I think we about to kill it (yet another one). We make a lot of coffee at home (the other half work from home) so when this one broke I'm gotta get a semi-pro one with single group head. Hopefully it'll last longer than 12 months.
