if he doesn't know if its 64 bit then its 32 bit ;)

Also, dell should have big 64bit stickers all over the computer. .

Right click "My Computer" - Select "Properties"
It will tell you there if you have 64bit. If you can't see anything, you have 32bit

Also, check your hardware an everything he uses has support for VISTA or your in for pain

I just rang Dell support and my machine (XPS710) currently running Xp WMC, can run 64 bit and the hardware is all vista compatable but i will have to check my mates machine ( i will get his service code and check with the tech support to make sure first) when i go to his place up on Mt tamborine after new years, i might go to vista fairly soon so i can get the most out of my games.

Thanks fellaz

windows key + pause

You wouldn't believe the difficulty I have trying to get that concept across to people sometimes

"Just hold down the windows key an press the PAUSE/BREAK key above PGUP or near the INS, HOME keys etc"
"Windows key?, Pause??"
"Umm.. The windows key is the one with the windows logo on it"
"What does the logo look like?"
"Never mind, it should be beside the ALT key"
"ALT Key?"
"Do you see the space bar?"
"No.. there aren't any spaces on my keyboard"
