I'll be needing a sat nav in the near future. Am I better off just getting a nokia phone with gps tho?

pros/cons?

nokia's gps (on my n95) takes a long time to establish its orientation. however once it gets its lock, it's s*** hot.

have you updated the firmware so its got assisted gps or whatever its called?

Takes me all of about 5secs to get a lock now, although that might be a long time, haven't really used any other gps system.

I have the 6110 Navigator - it's pretty good.

The screen is pretty small though. If you're like me and you only need to use it to get to somewhere you haven't been before, its fine. If you're gonna use it more than a few times a week, you might be better off with a dedicated unit.

I use it maybe once every week or two, its handy to not have to look up somewhere i haven't been before in the referdex.

Oh i forgot: Another benefit of having it in a phone is that it's always with you.

A few weeks ago i was getting a lift to a party with a few mates, and none of us had any idea how to get there. Thankfully i was able to whip out my phone and we got there. If you have a standalone unit, you are typically going to just leave it in your car.

They've just released the n82, basically the same as the n95, but with a 2.4" screen and in a candybar format.

Suposedly priced at 450 euro, so should be cheaper than the n95.

dosnt assisted gps still require an actual GPS nav with bluetooth support aswell anyway.
