Well here it is...

New additions to BIG DAY OUT 2008: silverchair, Spoon, Augie March, Brand New, Regurgitator, Anti-Flag, Karnivool, Carl Cox, Pnau, Kate Nash, Josh Pyke, beXta, Shy Child, Gyroscope, Enter Shikari, Operator Please, Unkle (live), Goodwill, Krafty Kuts & MC Dynamite, Die! Die! Die!, The Nightwatchman (Tom Morello acoustic),Blue King Brown, Dr Octagon with Kutmaster Kurt, British India, Aceyalone, Krill

These acts join the already announced: Rage Against the Machine, Bjork, Grinspoon, Arcade Fire, Hilltop Hoods, Billy Bragg, Paul Kelly, LCD Soundsystem, Sarah Blasko, Faker, Midnight Juggernauts, Dizzee Rascal, Something With Numbers, Battles, Cut Off Your Hands.

Its probably better than the first one, but still lacks another big name I feel. I guess if in previous years there have been several big names, this year there are a lot of slightly smaller names with cult followings?

Should be awesome anyway, was hoping for Coheed and Cambria, but they're already playing soundwave... Spoon should be good, and Karnivool... Regurgitator and of course Silverchair.

After processing this in my head for a while, I think I really like this lineup...

Silverchair, Spoon, Regurgitator, Anti-Flag, Karnivool, Gyroscope, Operator Please, Unkle (live), The Nightwatchman (Tom Morello acoustic),Blue King Brown, Rage Against the Machine, Bjork, Grinspoon, Arcade Fire, Hilltop Hoods, LCD Soundsystem, Sarah Blasko, Faker, Midnight Juggernauts, Something With Numbers are all bands I would like to see, and there is no way I'll see them all...

non of those bands outweigh the fact rage against the machine are playing which will draw the biggest group of f*** head bogans the gold coast has ever seen. not that rage is a typical f*** head bogan band, but they sure do attrack the f***tards, that and bdo is usually full of them anyway.

In a way im over the f***ing moon that there isn't another big name like the fooeys or qotsa. Means I can concentrate on placing myself in a decent spot to watch rage against the machine.

Gyroscope, Karnivool, the Gurg and of course Silverchair should be good viewing too. Really looking forward to Blue King Brown as well.

lulz... I'd say RATM would draw less bogans than a lot of other bands on the list.

Were you saying "yawn" to Krafty Kuts Spook? I haven't seen them? him? but the stuff I have heard or have bought isn't too bad at all? In fact that would be a drawcard for me, if I were going.

But I must agree that Kool Keith aka Doctor Octagon is most dope and I am praying to the god of hip hop that he plays a side show in Brisbane, preferably at a venue closehandy to my house complete with free beer and spirits served by buxom waitresses with a relaxed attitude to wearing clothes.

+1 for Unkle
-1000 for silverChair

im pretty sure without kool keith, there is no dr octagon

here you go insom, from wiki

The Dr. Octagon character was resurrected in 2006, engendering some confusion and controversy. Apprarently, in 2002 Thornton briefly considered releasing another Dr. Octagon album and hastily tried to secure a record deal for it. Allegedly friends went through a phone book of record labels from A-Z, sending off offer faxes to find a buyer. When they got to C, namely 'CMH', they received and accepted an offer, and the album was commissioned. Thornton then collaborated with unknown guitarist/producer Fanatik J. However, the album they submitted was turned down by CMH due to its poor quality, and CMH insisted it was remade. A production team by the name of One Watt Sun, made up of two Australians and one American, remixed one of the vocal accapellas recorded during the Fanatik J sessions, and the result was the track "Perfect World". Impressed CMH gave One Watt Sun the Job of remaking the album. They used a mix of vocals recorded during these original sessions with Fanatik J, along with three songs recorded later with Thornton. The album has a strong futuristic dance edge to it, out of step with the more organic production of the first album. Thornton has gone on to say "This ain't the record I did, It was totally new music. I was really pissed off about people wanting me to go out and tour and do these songs."[1]. Kool Keith hadn't performed any versions of the songs while on tour until 2007, when he performed remixed versions. Keith and Fanatik J had a falling out over contract rights. Keith states "He got greedy. He went out of his level of producer's ranking. Maybe he thought he was an overnight Quincy Jones, that he was the Automator." Amazingly, Keith doesn't hate the OCD album but feels it may damage his musical reputation. Apparently Thornton has yet to be paid for duties according to www.eastbayexpress.com who conducted a very insightful interview.
