I downloaded cogs the other day, it installed and works just fine. Who cares about md5 hashes as long as stuff works?
edit: 230692ae20914d5780e87b22af4a37b4 COGS-v1.4.2-setup(1).exe (it's got (1) on it coz I already have the setup file in my download dir) last edited by whoop at 23:37:20 16/Nov/07 |

Well, that's the point about md5 hashes - you use them when stuff doesn't work to start eliminating problems

well that was my point, I've had files fail md5 hashes before yet still seem to function perfectly fine, he made no mention of whether the file actually worked or not just that it failed the test.

I've had files fail md5 hashes before yet still seem to function perfectly fine For media, it doesn't matter too much as the data is usually divided into frames that are individually expendable. Screwed frame? That's ok ... the player will just skip to the next one and you might just notice a momentary glitch that you'll likely just forget about. For executable files where most of the bytes actually represent opcodes (and operands, etc), not so good. Start executing a corrupt portion and bam, your program is dead. |

or a trojan/virus has been inserted. either way, md5 sums not match on executables is a concern, if indeed they were not matching. |

do you even need cogs anymore? I play on GA servers all the time without it, or is that just because I'm on BPA?
well if it was some dodgy site I'd be worried but ga? edit: speaking of cogs, when's it going to get crysis support? last edited by whoop at 04:27:44 18/Nov/07 |
