Hey, a Friend of mine got a bunch of stuff from his grandmother and amongst it was this old WW2 Japanese War medal.

Would anyone here know what it is or for/says?
Or places that would do it for free?

Because try as I may, I couldn't get chocolate from inside it.

So that automatically makes it a war medal because its got japanese on it and doesn't contain chocolate?

Yeah pretty much.

The fact that it looks pretty military, and it was in a box with a bunch of other War stuff had nothing to do with the conclusions drawn about it being war/military related.

However, if it isn't WW2 Medal, could someone translate it anyway.

My Japanese is a bit off but it looks like "PLACE TOKEN IN SLOT FOR DODGE 'EM CAR"

my wife is japanese and she can't understand it

its olden days language all she can make out is the character at the top on the back means 'a gift' and that it is a medal that is given to someone who applied to the army. she can also read 'kyoto castle' in the 2 character on the top of the rh vertical column

otherwise she can't read it
