Mass Effect is out now in stores, for some reason its been released a week early. I have my copy sitting right here in front of me, so you can consider it confirmed :) What are you waiting for! Go grab it now!

Update: Turns out some retailers got their copies earlier than they should have. Despite calls from Microsoft to stop handing out the game, the selling continues. According to MS:

The stock slipped through our logistics provider early by mistake. The official release date remains November 22nd, we are working with our retail partners around this.

So if you haven't got one yet, you might want to rush off now and grab it before stores wise up and pull it from the shelves.

Heh, that's a pretty mighty cock-up. Not the first time this kinda thing has happened but almost a full week early is pretty significant.

i believe its to ensure all stores have copies of the game so that eb doesnt sell more copies of it beause they released it 2 days earlier then harvey norman who are yet to recieve all the copies or what ever. thats what ive always believed to be the story.

in other news i dont see eb taking it off there shelves any time soon as they are all out on display when i walked in there trying to buy the game guide, which apparently doesnt come out till the 27th

either way great f***ing game 5 hours in and feel like im only just breaching the surface, looks amazing and the speech system is amazing. shame it chugs abit during the heavy action areas as it lets down the epic movie like feeling that it delivers so well in other areas.

got my copy from jb for $79. The guy in there actually was shocked that I had picked it up off the shelf as someone else must have put them out.

The thing was that microsoft didn't put release date labels on the games like they usually do with the big releases.

Release dates exist so marketing can be done in time, but with this game it's going to sell itself anyway.

according to wiki the release date broke in the states when k-mart accident sold it, they said they got confused cause one box had the "do not open till 13th sticket" and the other had "do not open till the 22nd"

Don't be too hasty, Mario Galaxy might have a few surprises. I reckon this is one of the biggest years yet for AAA titles, going to be a damn hard call naming just one.

From all reports Mass effect sounds like it is going to own Mario Bros. Don't get me wrong, Mario Bro's will be an excellent game. Mass effect it seems, is in another league..

I'm about 10 hours into the game and I'm really REALLY enjoying it. Does anyone know how long the game is supposed to last?

main mission is meant to last 20hours with side quests it should last about 40 hours all up.

Got it today from JB HiFi for $71.10. Awesome price for an awesome game.

Also, that's the lame sex scene, there's a less lame one floating around on the net though. Has a few alien-arse shots I think. Sure way to make any game more interesting.
