To all the engineers out there, whats the preferred card?
Got a nice PC, Core 2 Duo, 2.33Ghz, 3GB of RAM, but the current 8600GT isn't handling models real well in solidworks. Any tips??? |

Yeah, but they're like $200 --> $1000, how do I know how far to go, I am very unfamiliar with these cards :(

Quadro.
Multiple Clip Regions. Subpixel precision. That should be sufficient reason to buy a Quadro rather than a GeForce. If you're ever rendering more than one scene simultaneously (eg, multiple views), then getting a card with multiple clip regions should be a no-brainer. And don't even bother looking at FireGL. Last I looked they didn't have either of these (though admittedly this was quite some time ago). |

i guess just find someone that has a price for them and ask for the lead time. AusPCMarket seems to have quite a selection. |
