OK so i'm playing wolf and sometimes i noticed a few little pixels out of place, you know - flickering and moving around and stuff. It only happened rarely to begin with, just sort of there for a split second. Then it got more frequent, becoming a constant thing. Now it is approaching the point where the wolf title screen is all buggered up and text is getting hard to read (yeah really). Vid card is a v7700 deluxe (gf2 gts for those that arent familiar). Also, windows in windows are now corrupting when i drag them around quickly (no flickery pixels though). Turning down the acceleration slider in display properties doesnt help unless i set it all the way down, at which point the problems go away. I've had the system for 2 years now and haven't had any problems, never overclocked it or anything nasty and i've checked that it's not overclocked now. I've pretty much decided that the vid card ram is going to crap but i'm playing around with some settings to see if anything can help. Does anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like ur vid card is fux0rd.. that hapend to my banshee, i had to re-install windows fully... then get latest drivers, if that doesnt work then format unless someone knows exactly what it is.

if ur vid card is f***ed, formatting isnt going to help
if the components on the card are f***ing up, reinstalling software isnt going to do a thing

it could also be overheating, that is a good point dangly :) considering the hot hot hot weather we are having, u could consider getting a better fan to wack on the GPU and see if that helps, i have a blue orb on the GF2 mx 400 and never had a prob with it overheating

hmm, i'll see if the card got bumped loose coz i moved the box recently. It's in an airconditioned room and with no overclock it's strange that it'd be overheating. The geforce faq had quite a few things to try but it's not looking good :(

did it only start when this insane heat started??, i didnt even bother turning my comp on on wednesday cause it was 50 degrees here.


take the card out and reseat it.

also check to see if the fan is spinning correctly, btw i have the same vid card as u.

it happend to me, i formatted and it was fine.

yeah, i just fiddled with some underclocking and reducing the core speed reduces the problem a lot so maybe i knocked the fan off (whereas reducing the mem clock didn't help noticably), time to pull it apart and check. I suppose i could install that smartdoctor proggy but it never worked for me, it kept screwing up the display (sorta double spaced the pixels so you could only see a quarter of the desktop) after a random time between 10sec and 5 min.

well if reducing the core speed helped sounds like overheating to me, take it out and give the fan a good clean and make sure it spins freely etc etc.

try reinstalling the drivers also anyway.

ahah im so lazy, on this comp which is the server to my 2 comp LAN, my bro always is using his so if i turn it off his net goes off and he gets pissed, theres a GF2 mx 200 in this comp, came outta the box no heatsink, i put on the old heatsink off my mx 400 no fan, and its f***en hot to touch, i had a spare 60mm fan but i cant switch off to take the card out to glue it on, so i put 4 blobs of blu tak on each corner of the fan and sat it under the heatsink ontop of my network card, so the blue tak leaves a gap for it to suck air in. heheh im such a derro =D

hmm, it needs both the mem and core underclocked to reduce the problem. Default was 200/333 but i have it on 175/300 and the problem is almost gone (almost). Bit screwed up methinks, perhaps the 'deluxe' part of the card is wearing out ? :(
