f*** yeh thanks for that heardy. I'm posting from my ipod right now and I've gotta say that i was a bit disappointed with the mail app to the point where I find it easier to just browse to HTML version of it with safari. This looks like it will be ten times better. Just need the option to become available in gmail settings.

don't panic - their blog says its coming:
And remember, we're rolling out IMAP starting today, so if you don't see it in "Settings," don't worry, it will be there soon. |

That's awesome. I might actually use my Gmail accounts now. not that I know what imap is, but it sounds coolIMAP >>>> POP3. The idea is that with IMAP your mail is stored centrally. You just access it from whatever location you're at. With POP3 you download your emails to the local machine. If you mark an item read with IMAP on 1 PC, it is read on another. If you do this on POP3 it isn't the case. |

I have it enabled on mine, but I don't see myself using it, for the moment at least. I like the web interface and the threaded conversations they have in Gmail.

seems enabled on mine, but I've used the POP thing to let thunderbird check my gmail for years now. It works so I see no reason to use this IMAP doohickey.

For you guys who have it - do you login/out of gmail all the time? My gmail is pretty much logged in 24/7... just wondering if that might have something to do with when I'll get it :O

I'm usually logged in all day at work, then I'll sometimes log in when I get home. So yeah, I usually log in/out at least once a day.

I've got the imap now; I actually logged out and then logged back in and just noticed it - not sure if it was there before I logged out today, but it wasn't there 2 days ago

It seems that the only option I have on my iPod is to delete emails rather than archive them... am I missing something? I guess that means I'll just read them on the go then archive when I get to my PC.
