Well, it's finally out and slowly making it's way around all the mirrors at the moment. The Gutsy release thread on the ubuntu forums is going nuts and has jumped about 150 pages in the last couple hours.

Improvements include:
- GNOME 2.20
- Desktop 3D effects (Compwiz Fusion)
- Desktop search
- Fast user switching
- Firefox plugins in Ubuntu
- Dynamic screen configuration
- Graphical configuration tool for X
- Fully automatic printer installation
- NTFS writing
- and more
for more details, check out this page. Nothing overly major in terms of new features, mainly just a lot of fine tuning.

Grab a copy here. Looks like the Optus mirror is up but I'm still waiting on the iinet for that freezone goodness :) There are also torrents floating around as well if your looking for a ridiculously fast download.

edit: iinet mirror

Oh dear god. and I have to process BigPond file requests tomorrow. Sorry in advance to anyone that requests anything that's not Ubuntu.

I soooo desperately want to ditch Windows completely in favour of Ubuntu. But I just can't do it as a gamer. It does EVERYTHING I need it to do, except for games. Wine is okay for some stuff, but I think I'm just gonna have to keep Windows on another partition for all that...

I found ubuntu pretty good but it was a pain getting the wireless to work probably on my dell laptop for some reason.

Which version? Ubuntu wireless support sets significantly better every version.

Version 7.04 supports my Dell laptop's (newish Vostro model) wireless card out of the box. Only WEP support, but apparently v7.10 is better at WPA out of the box.

Wireless was fine for me, only thing that greatly s***ted me off was the lack of native multi-monitor support, but that's fixed this release anyway.

Hmmm, just read that Orange Box more or less works perfectly on Ubuntu... That's about all I've been playing on PC for the last month... Might have to give it a whirl.

i've been on ubuntu with an xp vm for a few weeks now. very happy.

going to setup a xp partion for gaming. i just don't game enough anymore to put up with the constant f***ing annoyance that is windows.. the inconvience of rebooting for the occasional few hours of gaming is worth it.
