I'm trying to offload some hardware for a mate so he can upgrade, and I was wondering what you guys thought would be a worthwhile price to try to sell the following bits:
Asus a8n sli deluxe 1gb kingmax ddr400 (2*512mb) 3500+ socket 939 cpu (venice core) Thermaltake tower silent heatsink + led fan Going by costs of buying them new, now, using staticice.com.au : $240 for mobo, ~$85 for ram, $80 for cpu, ~$50 for heatsink = $455 I haven't been watching hardware specs/prices like I used to, and if he can get some decent loot for the above parts he wants to upgrade to an am2 mobo, ddr2 ram and a decent dualcore cpu. Money is tight, but for an example of what he's after, heres what we put together on paper today: Amd64 4800+ - $138 ASUS M2N-E-SLi - $129 KINGSTON Twin Pack HYPER X 2x1 gig (2gig) DDR2 800Mhz CL4 (PC2-6400 CL4) - $169 Asus silent cube heatsink/fan - ~$80 Basically he just wants to be able to play (and enjoy) crysis without using stick-figure mode. For the time being, he'll stick with his pcie 256mb x800gto Any suggestions on replacement parts? What would you guys think is a worthwile opening ebay/wherever price for selling the rest? First person to say $2 wins a free backpunch! |

Thanks, but I've been trying to convince him to make the switch to intel for ages and he insists on sticking with "the underdog".
My fault, I got that in his head when I first introduced him to pc gear 5-6 years ago, when amd was the bomb, and now im regretting it.. I'll push for step's suggestions, but can anybody suggest an amd equivalent for the same pricerange? |
