Just a heads up, on the 9th there were some new drivers released for the X-Fi (all the various flavours) which might address some sound issues people have been experiencing.

Doesn't look like it...
Still only getting 2 speakers in HL2 even tho my card is set to game mode and in windows I'm getting full playback through my 7.1

EDIT:
Apparently you need "ALchemy" to enable Surround sound since VISTA disabled the hardware abstraction Layer. Direct Sound isn't effected by this and Creative have added functionality to enable

Supposedly, you can get Audigys to work using the same method.

I have an Audigy 2 which I have since removed from my Vista box due to driver issues and I was sick of waiting for Creative to fix it(on board is much less hassles). I see off the Alchemy site that Creative are charging for the fixed drivers WTF??!!

wtf? Buying new drivers? That's pretty shafted right there. Yet when you compare the cost of purchasing a new card that you get these drivers for free to the $10US it's a nice cheap "upgrade"

Still think that you shouldn't have to pay for drivers though... Mebe if you wanted to get VISTA drivers that gave a outdated vanilla sound blaster EAX then fair enough.

Again, still licks balls the idea of paying for driver support

That is rude, paying for driver support. Creative, what happened man, you used to be cool.

sif Vista... seriously :/

MS still supporting XP (once XP will have DX10, vista will be a dud)

Vista uptake is barely more than Windows 98 share

Cnet having a rant about Vista:

And a related item: XP support extended.

I couldn't read the blog, got a php error when I tried to open it. But there wasn't any mention of dx10 in that summary.
