hmmm you mean the Asus A7v133 Via Apollo KT133A Chipset?

Thats wierd cause the bios file AVU1007.awd says the update gives XP compatibility?..

Also WTF IS WITH THE TWO NAMES? the TOP name on my Manual says A7v133 and the BOTTOM name says VIA Apollo KT133A chipset?!! why the two names?

Well, i could avoid flashing and all by getin a thunderbird 1.4 ghz...its also 4 dolla cheaper :D lol.. but i would expect the "XP" part of the processor would bring advantages?

omg u are stupid lol

ok it's an asus a7v133 board right and OMG it has a Apollo kt133a CHIPSET!!! WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT?!!?

BigBOB, I dunno what flashing thing ur using but from my experience u must boot into dos and then run an .exe that u download from the board manufacturers site to flash the bios.

It's all so simple u have no idea.

some times you have to clear the cmos, read your mobo book to fine the jumper pins on your board, or just pull the battry out for a bit

theres these lil pins on your mobo, you sometimes have to short them out, it wont blow up your mobo or anything just reset your bios

For someone that doesn't know what a chipset on a mobo does your pretty stupid if you wanna flash the BIOS.

if you f*** up your bios flashing it you can just buy a new rom bios and start again, or buy an updated rom bios

um... why don't you leave this to someone who's paid to do it for a living BigBOB? You seem to fit the criteria of someone who's about to blow away 500-600 bucks worth of hardware.

if you're truely serious about setting your machine up, I'd recommend the newbie lounge forums over at www.overclockers.com.au (clickable).
