While we're at it, what would be a decent widescreen, possibly HD, tv for playing xbox360 on? I saw a samsung thing in dick smith power house that looked pretty sweet.

anything lcd whoop, and you cant go wrong I was looking at LCD monitors, but their native res isn't the same as a wide screen HD res 1920x1200 for a 24" LCD vs 1920x1080 being the actual resolution outputted by the console. Playing at non-native res looks like ass on my 19" LCD. Or do you mean any LCD HDTV as opposed to plasma/projection? |

Can you not set the LCD so it doesn't stretch the vertical resolution?

Can you not set the LCD so it doesn't stretch the vertical resolution? Nope, most of them stretch and don't give an option to blackbar. |

picked up a 19" Viewsonic Widescreen Multimedia tv display for $349 from wow.
Pretty impressed so far has DVI (HDCP) / D-SUB (aswell as adaptor for Component to d-sub) SCART (a/v scart (dosnt work with component adapters) + A/V Input, and then TV Tuner(ufortunetly not digital). 5ms response. was just after a Display with A/V/Component in, didnt realise it have TV Tuner built in till i got home. |

Is Viewsonic any good? I always saw it as the bottom of the line, cheap s*** brand. thier lcd's don't have as good specs as samsung but are reasonable for the price.. but viewsonics made good quality crts in the past (very good dot pitch on em). i rekn the samsung 226bw is the shiz atm... it's specs are way ahead of the other brands atm, but it is more than $350. i'd pay en extra hundred just for the phat contrast ratio. |

Myself, I'm tossing up between a Samsung 226bw and a Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP.
Really want full HD support but I want a super fast monitor for the games. Maybe the dells will be a little faster by January. One worry I have with these super high contrast ratio monitors is, is this monitor going to be so bright I can't see the black areas. 3000:1 is such a big step over 700-1000:1, it sounds as if you could light a room with the screen. |
