Ok after pressure from a lot of peeps, I'm finally going to start pimping my mixes to clubs & promoters..

I just finished this mix that I am thinking about handing out but I want some feedback first.

WEAPON: http://www.speedyshare.com/408472932.html

Pump the volume on that and let me know what you think..
I would appreciate specifics too.. like if the mixing is good, and what tracks work/dont work.

I've done a heap of my own personal edits so I could fit a massive 23 tracks on it. Featuring tunes by Armand Van Helden, Dave Spoon, Steve Angello, Deadmau5, MSTRKRFT, Cirez D, Jesse Rose, Laidback Luke, Micky Slim, Groove Armada etc etc..

Start is good - That's all I've listened to at the moment. Still going. First track is sweet.
It sucks a big convoy is going to the valley tonight but I have this damn flu so I can't go. On top of that this music makes me wanna take drugs and dance by myself.

I've had a listen up to about 45 minutes. The first two tracks are good, the rest I can give a miss.

I think a problem you may face is that it really isn't that hard to mix a bunch of house tracks together. House is the easiest style to mix and therefore has the most bedroom DJ's doing it, which will make differentiating your style that little bit harder. Especially getting it across to potential clubs etc.

Actually the track at about 28 minutes could be slotted in at number three (although it may be a bit 'hard' at that point in the mix) then the mix is off to a good start.

Just some of the other tracks, although they may beatmix together, just don't really go together to form a consistent overall mix.

I'll check out the rest later today.

if u want to crack into the dj scene you need to mix it up a little with like electro/trance/house etc... anyone can mix house as its so slow and easy to mix.

You need to sort of invent your own style that differs from the regular jo.

good mixes though :)

my mates trying to do the exact same thing as you and break in, in brissy the only way you get in to clubs is by the ppl you know, and pretty much every 2nd person these days wants to be a dj.
My mate has found this out and has just been making lots of different styles etc and is going down to Melbourne to break into the scene.. Its alot easier down there because they have so many 24hr 7 days a week clubs.

Listened to it in my car on the way to the coast yesterday.

Was pretty good indeed, i would just agree with whoever said that some parts felt as though they were dragged out just a bit too long.

i could mix trance/hardstyle or whatever.. but i would never play this in a club so it would be a bad representation of a demo mix imo. i mix electro & house, and i would be targeting the clubs that play this kinda music.

any style is easy to mix if its all pretty much the same bpm and beat structure. thats why i demonstrated different beat styles and bpm drops from 130-120 etc, if you didnt notice.. that just proves how seamless my mixing is :)

Actually the track at about 28 minutes could be slotted in at number three
I could but it would sound s***.. one song is F#m and the other is A#m - totally conflicting keys. I do harmonical mixing, each mix is in perfect key or a complimentary key. Thats how I get the extended mixes with the beats and melodies melting into each other.

thx for the feedback, i never realised that about melb clubs.. but i would rather not be a pro dj than have to live in melbourne :P

i ask you if you've been out clubbing recently cause if you have you'd hear the s*** alot of dj's are mixing that really doesn't go together at all

I prefer the choice of tunes in Winter, but this has to be your best so far, technically and musically. I was loving the middle especially. That Freak Me remix is a bomb.
I like the way you alternate between straight up house and electro through the set, it works.

New tunes, mixed in key and flowing nicely. You might just get away with a set like that at a club like Mono. Yeah, you would :]

i liked the mix but tbh i like to be shocked when the mood is set and then the DJ drops a bomb.

technically it was great mixing but my only advice is to change it up a bit more (in a good way of course).

still i <3 ya work.

ps fark im loving carl cox's last essential mix.

phwoar thx guys!

my main focus was to drop a succession of bombs while keeping the flow and mixing as tight as possible. if y'all think i achieved this, then i'm happy :D

yeah dais that synth break down in dave spoons remix of 'freak me' is a pure omfg moment. i would love to drop that in a club so badly..

oh and jigga, for that net radio station are you talkin bout either kranky or fez? i would like to look further in to that...

the remix of rock me daddy is very cool and quite dark, and very well mixed with that ABC song, both with the guitars etc

that dirty song with the chick that goes like 'what you doing, who you screwin' etc is f***ing cool

i'll get back to you with more

nice work spookus, i love to hear what's hitting the spot.

i wish i could put my mixes on itunes or something. calculating with my current download stats - even if peeps just gave me $5 per mix i would get $10 000+ each one of my releases!
and if i was on a mainstream download site then times that by a s***load. if anyones got some cash to invest, lets start a label and release my mixes!!!!
just like nick skitz except with 2000% less gay!!
