Hi, just wondering if anyone here has ever bought a car from a government car auction? Are there any particular types of cars you're likely to find there? Are they worth going to? Thanks.

Don't go during a school holidays. Teachers frequently buy cars at them.
You have to know what the value of the car you want is. They used to be a lot better value then they are now. Some government departments seem to look after cars better then others. eg. any of the cars used by QRail by the workers were usually in much worse shape then a similar used by says Lands or Main roads. |

I bought an elantra from there - well looked after even though it had clocked up some km's. Still had 4 years warranty on it. Have sold it now to come overseas, but I was quite fond of it.

auctions are over rated. What car are you after?
People hear the word auction, they think "oh s*** yeah cheap cars" you know what.. you are getting a cheap car... cheap used and abused over priced buckets of s***! because thats what you get at auctions these days... left overs from car dealers making money off YOU. (oh s*** wait thats me) |
