If you like I can ask my dad... he rides a nice carbon fiber/races/know's 100's of good road cyclists.

Might take a day or two, but would be a good answer.

EDIT: I just bought a Giant OCR 1 the other day, has Shimano 105 gears on it... it's the absolute sex :D

Got up to 57km/hr with absolutely no wobbles, loving it :D

lol I have no idea, it was Daddy sponsored (I'm a student) :)

He won't give you $2 for a loaf of bread (I'm being serious :D), but will shell out thousands for a good carbon alloy bike, boots, skins, helmets, computer and racing registration :D Heh, that's cyclists for you, seems like an addiction.

I can get him to ask a few of the A grade blokes (they ride the typical $3k+ bikes)... what length of ride do you typically do, what type of hills do you encounter (or what size gears do you ride?) and what's your general budget?

I had a go of Dad's OCR 4 the other day... was hammering 36km/hr into head on hardcore wind... couldn't believe it (I struggle to get 30 on my bike...)

Well his training bike (OCR 2) and my training bike (Trek) were both second hand off a Queensland road racing forum for roughly 40% of the retail price, perfect condition.

I'll get that for you, most of the sellers have multiple bikes and their 3rd or sometimes 4th training bike is a $2k+ retail at like $800 - $900 AUS.

There's a new shop in Auchenflower that I drive past all the time. is called 99bikes, and have a website 99bikes.com.au. No idea if it's any good though.

Ok mooby, just off the phone with my old man.

The second hand bikes were sold privately through the Hamilton racing club, which myself and my dad are members of... for members you can specifically email the administrator/chairman and he will put your ad up and any other riders will reply with their sales.

The new bikes he bought from Strathpine Cycles. Dad works/is friends with one of employee's (Matt) father. His racing bike, he got for $2700 from $4000, my OCR 1 he got for $1600 from $2000. He said if you want to buy from them (I said you're a school friend ;)), he can send the word through his dad/to son and you can get a really good deal no problem... really good prices to start with + really good discount.

So that's that :)
