hey guys, im trying to set up a network at my parents house.

At the moment they have the net connecting straight into the main computer.

They have a netgear router (which use to work fine but doesnt seem to at the moment) I have connected computer A, and computer B via cat 5 cables to the router and the internet.

The computers can see each other but cannot access the internet. I have tried changeing the settings in the netgear settings, restored factory settings, removed all firewalls etc and i tried to manually assign ip adresses for each computer but it still doesnt work.

I was just wondering what i have missed and what i can do to fix it. I'm going to get a new router this afternoon if i cant fix it :(

are they with BPA cable?

BPA are moving customers from their old login method of connecting to a non login method.

if your parents have been changed over you may need to uncheck the cable login option in the netgear router to make it work.

throw it in the bin a and buy a billion I had the same router and always had problems with dropouts

or maybe try updating the firmware and are you getting lights when you plug the router and modem together
