people who drive drunk deserve to hit a pole and kill themselves before they hurt an innocent person.

suck it up and take your punishment.

Isn't that very similar to the 1 point license?

All the people I've known have just gone with the suspension because of the penalities if you violate any traffic condition (excluding DUI).

Perhaps I'm way off here, I'll ask them when they get home.

DUI once is stupid.

In fact losing your licence is pretty stupid.

nearly 5 years ago i lost licence for dui.
i did it well. granted that was very stupid.

recently i got rbt at 7am after a fe the night before.
blew .06 - really thought i'd be ok.

all that aside.
i agree drink driving is stupid and dangerous to everyone. it was a judgement call i got wrong (marginally wrong i must say)

just curious to hear any exceptions to the rule of 5 years between offences.
i drive for a living thats all.

im gonan take whatever i get on the chin but if it means i can stay employed while i do my time i would like that very much

Just curious, what were you drinking and how much to blow 0.06?

I've never drunken anything above lights because I'm paranoid, but I have some friends that will have 2 or 3 heavies (really skinny folks) over a few hours and still drive.

well we were drinking heavy beer, rums till about midnight.

my mate in the passenger seat blew .04 after the cop asked if he had a licence to take the car home.

we just tossed up who should drive..

gotta run to cricket but love to hear some stories of similar situations.

isn't it supposed to take the average male 1 hour to break down 1 standard drink of alcohol after the first hour which is 2?

because i know if i finished at midnight i don't even think about driving for another 12hrs just to be safe

It depends on your metabolism as well, how healthy you are might come into play as well.

I retract my earlier statement if you blew over 7 hours after you finished. Must have been a real bender.

haha... it's a shame you can't just 'move' to tweed heads temporarily and get a brand new licence eh ;)

wait a minute... canya? if you incur a traffic infringement in another state it'll transfer over to your local state licence record now, though if you no longer have that record it just gets lost in the system.

we used to do the same with the international licence from RACQ... man that had to be the best $20 you'd ever spend eh. a cop wouldn't know what the hell to do if you gave him one of those instead of your Qld licence. he'd just get frustrated, do the 'command presence' stuff some more and send ya off on your way

I know my nights are pretty hectic... sat night i had about 7 jagers, 2 151 shots, some vodka orange, some platinums... when u look at it .. prob like 16 drinks... and i got a decent metabolism and i still know i wouldn't be right to drive..

You just need to learn how long your body needs to break it all down.

But yer 7 hrs after a big session, you're pretty much garunteed to blow high

1 std drink = .02% bac
average male body can sink .02% bac per hour

i don't know why everyone knows (and this is an attack on the media not the people) what 1 std drink is, everyone knows .05% is the legal limit, but few people know the body can absorb the alcohol content of 1 std drink in an hour, and even fewer know that 1 std drink = .02% bac.

Also, as mentioned before, these all have to be weighed up with other factors such as body size, used-to-ness of alcohol, metabolism etc etc etc.

i doubt that being used to the effects of alcohol decreases the blood alcohol content and thats the only thing the porkers are gunna care about

i heard they need a blood test to make it official, say if you blow 0.051 surely you'd be under the limit by the time they do the blood test?

of course the blood thing is prolly bs i have no idea

Isn't it if they're going to charge you and lock you up or something they need to do the proper test?
But if they just give you a ticket the on the spot rbt is fine?

something like that I think.

yeah if it were within a bee's dick of the limit like that i'd probably want to know my options

that said these days i would never drive on more than one beer so it's not an issue

if you fight it far enough they do... but if the cop who booked you is a hard-core company-man he'll make your life hell, and follow up with his peers by showing them just how right he was. this will earn him the attention of his super, who may or may not lay this favourably on his personal record. it's all about the stats guys

don't take me the wrong way here... my Dad's cousin rose the ranks very nicely in the Tasmanian Police Service in just this way so family lore has it.. the old family asked he move his family here to Qld so he did - and shortly after he quit the service. Old Uncle Ross is one of those hard-core Christian type so I don't doubt he got involved in something that was something 'somewhat subjective'

Today he's a solicitor who gets drug dealers and society scum out of jail. He's still the #1 guy at his local church though so Dad tells me.

Go Queenslander!

yeah, i thought it was within your rights to ask for a blood test? so if you're only a tiny bit over it's possible you could get under by the time they take you down to the station.

correct me if i'm wrong.

f***in oath it's in your right to get a blood test, those breathalisers are about as trustworthy as the speed guns

Try having an officer put his hands into your pants while three other officers stand around watching without warning to "search" you.
Try giving police the option to blood test you and being told no.
Try blowing 0.026 back at the station and being charged with failing to provide a breath specimen.

Try losing your license for 10 months and copping a $1200 fine because you can't afford a lawyer to fight it and because fighting them would only make you and your family a future target of more corruption.

My thanks goes out to the five officers involved from Noosa Heads Police station.

0.034 was my highest and only ever reading.
I've also been told "I was right on the limit" when I hadn't touched an alcoholic drink for months, they refused to show me the reading when I asked what it was specifically/to see for myself (knowing I had nothing to drink).

Ok lets say I was drinking a 375ml beer rated at .05% at a rate of one beer per 15 minutes, and was also urinating consistantly at a rate of 375ml per 15 minutes while driving my car on a magic treadmill

would the cops still pull me up?

.06 Man you should have disputed the reading and they probably take you down the station and given you a blood test sometimes there real backed up and it can take an hr or two
