Well I only just found out about this today, and couldn't see a thread on here about it, so I thought I'd share.

A mysterious teaser trailer for a new, unnamed JJ Abrams project has landed on the net, and it comes complete with its own crazy Lost-style viral marketting campaign that is whipping net-scavengers with too much spare time on their hands into a frenzy. And no, it's not Godzilla, it's about the Cthulhu. Apparently you never actually see the monster at all throughout the monster - just the destruction and panic it brings. You'll notice in the campaign "Cthulhu fhtagn" - the shortening of "In his house at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming.".

So why does the guy say "Its a lion" if its about cthulu?

Actually, the Cthulu stuff is to do with the 'Ethan Haas' viral marketing, which apparently has nothing to do with '01-18-08/Cloverfield'

Also, isn't it "It's Alive" ??

(please don't let this thread turn into another "It's a Cthulu movie! It's a Voltron movie!" argument - the campain/JJ Abrams is pretensious enough already)

he says "It's alive" not "It's a lion". the whole movie is suppsoedly shot on handycam so expect a lot of shaky shake.

Wait, I thought you were doing that when you were implying Armageddon made you want to see another movie from him.

i cannot see a movie written by the cheesemaster that did armageddon & deep impact could do justice to lovecraft's sci-fi/horror classic & that trailer just confirms my suspicions. cthulhu is supposed to be a fantastically intelligent & alien being of deep subtle plots of immense evil (awesomely characterised in cradle of filth's black metal classic 'cthulhu dawn') not a giant roaring monster that knocks buildings down n throws cars n stuff ffs.

so settle down pyth ;) cthulhu != chthon .. it's not a quake movie ... just a phat chunk of hollywood cheese imo.

It looks kinda cool, even if the film turns out crap at least the mystery and theories are kinda fun.

This topic should have been covered in a Saint entertainment post imo.

ima also hanging out for cloverfield, personally i dont really CARE what the beasty is.... but the idea of the film i love it... shoot from the perspective of the poor sods getting wiped out by the big monster and not from the guys who eventually take it out with a nuke or somthing. sides i just want to see the inevitable oh shi- moment when the stars take the wrong turn and come face to face with the big beasty, i bet only one lives.
