Rather lengthy at 15 minutes but worth the watch and shows Michael Moore laying the smack down on CNN for their "apparent" biased stories.

Well then, I for one will refuse to listen to any of his ideas based entirely on the way he looks.

Yeah sometimes he's a big nutty and overzealous, but at least he's got the balls to stand up and fight the mind-numbing propaganda that assaults the US population daily.

Read some Chomsky.

He may be biased, but the other side is worse. Just because someone is biased, that doesn't mean they're wrong.

People like to through the word biased around and it really s***s me to tears. Some people do tend to bring a bias to the table when they consider arguments that is unarguable HOWEVER having an opinion is not f***ING BIAS. Especially not when it's an opinion that you take the trouble to research that opinion and provide evidence backing it up.

So seriously go watch the movie, do some reading up of the research and facts. Health care is tricky because people tend to through around a lot of statistics that can contradict positions but unless you're an expert you wouldn't have a clue about their relevance.

In my personal opinion I tend to agree with the idea that "the market" will provide the best form of health-care. In theory that's a fantastic idea. However the reality is that many of the factors necessary for a decent market rarely exist , especially in markets as heavily regulated as medicine. Big pharmaceutical companies tend to throw their weight around and try to effect schemes like the pharmaceutical benefit scheme in their favour. So until we actually have a fair and balanced market I'm quite happy with our ineffecient government model.

Haha, so much antagonism.

"And of course there's one candidate who isn't even in the race yet...I dunno if he even will be, but he was right about the war before it began...Uh, unlike CNN, did I mention that?"

CNN is horrible, it's only slightly better than FOX.

MSNBC is probably the only decent mainstream news outlet in america. see:

I couldn't believe it when I heard that last little sound bite at the end. Way to deride an entire section of the audience that tuned in specifically to hear what Moore had to say.

i can certianly see why people would hate michael moore. i never have though. ive seen everything he's done after bowling for columbine and pretty much agreed with everything. people in the US might think he is unpatrotic or whatnot but to me, what he says is pretty much what most of the world thinks and sees the US as. least thats what i think. anyways watching the vid now.

EDIT - cnn is just as bias as the next news station. cept mabye fox and that a****** bill o'riely. anyone see that interview he had awhile ago with that teenager (i think) who was against the war even though his parents died in 9/11? they eventualy had to stop the interview cuz bill was getting so mad he told the sound guys to cut his mike and had to be led outside with security cuz bill was gonna bash him or something. then the next day bill ran stories with an edited interview getting the poor kid to say how he hates america or something.

meanwhile as people in the US are going nuts yelling at each other and calling each other liars, in japan we have hillariou tv such as the human tetris game. fit into certain shapes in the oncoming wall or else get pushed into water. japan is far superior. then again im bias ^_^

totaly, and utterly off topic i know but i couldnt help it.

Heh, it's funny. Michael Moore makes a movie about something anyone living in the US pretty much knows (no private health insurance and you're pwned; have private health insurance and pray you are covered properly).

That is true. However it is biased when you present that opinion is a deceiving way, which Mr. Moore does frequently.

edit: That said, I agree with most of what he has to say, I dont agree with the way he goes about it tho.

Point of view = have an opinion on something

Bias = making a decision based more on your point of view than the facts provided.

Sloppy definition but I think its close enough....

If I chose option a over option b, even though I've seen proof b is better, then I'm showing bias. Bias doesn't always have to be a bad thing.

For example two designs, both work, one is better but the other is cheaper, and you decide the cheaper. Are you being biased based on $$ or are you being responsible economically? - I think both.

This post has served no useful purpose.

In the end it's docutainment. He has facts to back up what he says. They may not be all the facts, and they definitely won't be facts that don't back up his argument. Everyone is bias in some way, some are just better at hiding it than others.

Making a "documentary" about the state of health care that aims to show that it is inadequate is BIAS. Yes the facts may be true, but a documentary is meant to be unbiased, and the only way to do that is present equal amounts of facts for both sides of the story, which I am willing to bet my life on Mike Moore fails to do again.

I agree with the last sentence because the rest of it was garbage;) Everyone needs to go grab their dictionaries off their shelves, blow the dust off it and have a quick flick. Then consider what these definitions mean wrt this thread.

hasn't he had issues before with the academy where they wouldn't classify previous films he has created as documentaries because the don't pass some crutial content requirement?
