Topic: iiNet to Optusnet Broadband drama

So about a month ago i moved houses and we decided we were going to get iiNet Adsl2 broadband in the new house. So we called them up and signed up, but before we could get the broadband setup we had to get the phone line on to see if the exchange had been enabled in the area.

1 week later and the phone had been enabled and it turns out we couldn't get the ADSl2 at this house. So we think "no big deal we'll just get cable". So we decide to go with Optusnet cable, but apparently we couldn't get that at our new home either, They recommended Direct DSL. So we signed up for that for a Bundle of the Homeone phone plan and broadband. So we get iiNet to churn the home phone over to optus from iiNet, and that seemed to go smoothly.

Fast forward 2 weeks, modem had not arrived and the phone had suddenly stopped working. We called up optus to see what the deal was, and they said that everything seemed fine on their end so they blame iiNet for blocking it. We call iiNet and naturally they blame optus, so about 4 phone calls later they are saying that the local calls takes 4-6 weeks to go over to optus but the long distance had been put onto optus. What they don't seem to understand is that our phone has completely stopped working, we can't recieve calls or make them, nor make long distance calls which had been apparently put onto optus. Modem arrived today but cannot connect to internet.

Anyone else had any similiar dramas, or am i just screwed out of internet and a phone for 4-6 weeks?

im pretty sure the modem takes up to 10 working days...

i deliver them from time to time and people are more often than not surprised to see them so quickly.

so im guessing 2 weeks is a bit ordinary.

you should have priority if your phone has completely stopped working because it is almost considered a necessity now-a-days after all that stuff with phone lines being in the process of repair.. taking too long to fix someone having a heart attack and dying cause noone could call an ambo in time.

i thought it was a 2 day turn-around in fixing a land-line if required.

sit your arse on a phone (public phone by the sounds of it)
refuse to get off the line until the give you a time frame to initially get your phone operational also to inform you on the internet status.

if you dont swear or be abusive they cant hang up on you so just keep insisting it is done now now now becuase there are optus techs that work 24 - 7. well that was a few years back when i worked at optus.

Ok so i just got off the phone with Optus and after talking to a bunch of arabs we finally got an australian. They're now telling us that optus can't enable the landline here and they can't give us internet.

So after f***ing around with these c***s for this long and having the modem sent out and about $100 worth of mobile calls to these c***s we can't get it.

f***ing c***s.
