OK, So I am in the process of setting up a SBS for home.
I am on Telstra Cable, getting ADSL2 sometime today hopefully. Basically its gonna go like this. MODEM --> Router --> SBS --> Everyone Now I was f***ing around with it last night and couldn't really achieve much. I configured the DHCP server to hand out IP's, default Gateways, and DNS Servers, but browsing was s***e, either didn't work, or took forever to resolve. Any tips, etc for me ? (I am currently re-installing Windows after fitting a raid card, so I will be starting fresh) |

just keep fiddling googling and learning
step through the dns resolution process and try to determine why resolving was so slow, and then make the appropriate changes to correct it |

Re: Problem with browsing, it's DNS like Jim said. Do some googling on setting up DNS with SBS2003
If you're going to use SBS for your home as the central email store and don't have static IP you might want to add these links to your bookmark: Configure Exchange 2003 Server http://www.christensen-software.com/support/config_exchange_2003.htm More details on Standard DB limit size increase in Exchange 2003 SP2 http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2005/09/14/410821.aspx How to troubleshoot the POP3 Connector in Windows Small Business Server 2003 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;885685 Securing Exchange Server 2003 & Outlook Web Access: Chapter 5 http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Securing-Exchange-Server-2003-Outlook-Web-Access-Chapter5.html Enabling the ISA Server 2004 VPN Server http://www.isaserver.org/articles/2004vpnserver.html Forwarding Mail to an External Recipient http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/MF015.html Have fun! :) |

If you have a problem with AD/Exchange/Interwebs/Any other MS tool then it all ends up being a DNS problem.

DNS problems are s***....
You have pretty much the same setup as we do... except we got static IP address. Just going to FVS that has 2 WAN ports so i can have 2 ISP and share the internet load :) BTW do you have SBS 2003 Standard or Pro... R2? last edited by TiT at 16:39:00 27/Jun/07 |
