Fearsome Gigantoraptor is biggest feathered dino::
SYDNEY: The fossil of an enormous "chicken-like" dinosaur has been discovered in China. The one-and-a-half-tonne beaked behemoth is the largest bird-related dinosaur yet discovered.
The picture cracks me up for some reason.

Also, xkcd on velociraptors.

Raptors!

Yeah, I'm not sure what the author/editor of that article was thinking when they put the word fearsome and that picture so close together.

I can just see trying to walk out of a Woolworths carrying a 1.5 tonne 'chicken'. Not to mention a roast taking 72 hours to cook.

Cause look at the bottom pic! It's the size of a T-Rex, carnivorous and would peck your face off. All while prancing around flapping it's poofy little arms.

ooooh oohhhh, PECK PECK PECK, no face!

Hey don't get me wrong, I'm sure the thing could kill me quickly and efficiently, it's just that I'd be laughing at it as it did so.

the size of a t-rex, carnivorous, AND, thought to be one of the fastest dinosaurs to exist, the run you down and kill you kind.

yeah, that's kinda scary.

Speaking of raptors, I'm about 8000 points away from being exalted with the trolls and soon i'll be able to ride their mount.

Yay!!!

I'm not sure how big you seem to think a T-Rex was, but I'll assure you it was 'bit' bigger than 4m in height.

I'm no bone-ologist, but I assume by comparing bone structures in stuff they dig up to bone structures in animals that are alive today and looking for similarities.

Of course it would only be a rough estimate, but barring some extraordinary physiology, the smarty pants scientists can arrive at a general idea from the anatomy and it's supposed motion.

Obviously its determined by counting the number of speed holes in the bones.

Seeing something like that you can better understand peoples arguments about the whole dinosaur>bird evolution.
