Well its been a good run but bigpond have finally implemented their new accounts server and therefore shaping. When you logon to your bigpond acoc*** page, you see it says something like welcome to the new accounts server.....and sure enough shaping is now in place.

I cant really complain as I've been pulling down 100gb+ / month on my 10gb plan but meh, wadda ya do.

Time for a change, anyone recommend decent 1.5mb / 8mb accounts with say 60gb data. Gimme some recommendations.

I always got capped @ my limit, so when i read this topic i thought by "fixed" you meant that it was "broken".

After moving from iiNet to Internode, I really wouldn't get THAT excited about Internode. They're nice and reliable, but they have crappy customer service wait times and are really quite expensive.

iiNet are okay if you can get onto their dslams, if you can't they're not worth it at all.

They'd be the two I'd consider.

Also while the thread is here.

What's the deal with cable internet? I just moved over to the Southside and the house I'm at has Optus Cable (300mb plan :S) and I'm going to kick the data up to the 7gb/14gb plan.

Is cable just a standard speed? There's no 256/512/1.5 ect. like ADSL?

Don't get me started on Bigpond. I joined up with them a month ago (60 Gig extreme plan) and stopped downloading at just over 58 Gig. I recieved a phone call today from Bigpond telling me that I've downloaded 8 Gig over my limit and that I owe over $1100 ($0.15 per meg after you've reached your limit), yet my usage limit clearly states I'm under my limit. After an hour on the phone I now have to wait for the bill to arrive and then submit a claim to get it fixed up.

Bastards.

Why would you sign up with Telstra/Bigpond?

Go Internode, as if anybody here needs to ring support, geez.

Cable has varying speeds depending on how many in your exchange (or something) that are sharing the cable, and how heavily they are using it.

I got around 700-1500 kb/s from ausgamers with optus cable.

I was with Internode (Adsl2) but moved to Carina and could only get Adsl here. Out of all the ISP's TBP were the only ones who could provide me with cable (After Adsl2 speeds I couldn't handle going back to Adsl).

optus adsl2 has to be bundled with a home phone, for 20/40 atleast on adsl1 I could just bundle it with a mobile phone. Not sure about their cable internet tho.

Odd, it sounds like you're not only complaining, but using this as justification to change providers

why would you wanna change?? 100GB sounds pretty good, Oh right they fixed it. iinet is good but internode probably the best isp in Australia for high bandwidth, downloads, online games etc.

Go for iiNet or internode so you don't leech the pants out of my ISPs bandwidth.

PS Don't forget that now all 10G plans should have been automatically upgraded to 12G. Ours wasn't so we called up and it should be 12G as of next month.

yes but the great thing is that some areas are gay and don't let some customers have cable even though the person next door has it... like myself i live on old Cleveland rd in camp hill and i can not get cable etc...
