Interesting... I just checked the ticketek site and found that there are actually 3 concerts (one Sunday as well). All 3 sold out.

Skinnys isn't ticketek. So while ticketek have sold their allocation (last time I saw ticketek had sold out it said "Allocation Exhausted"), Skinnys has not. So they are still trying to flog them off. I dare say they're probably gone now, so you are quite right in saying it's sold out. I hope somebody buys them from you.

I went to the concert last night and it was f***ing amaaazing, except for all the drunken tards talking non-stop. I've been a fan of missing Higgins since about 2001 when she was Unearthed. I can remember hearing her song "All For Believing" for the first time on the radio and I was just blown away. She is just incredible live.

I agree Billy, she is pretty amazing live. Very powerful voice and very talented song writer.

She's a good artist but the radio stations need to f***ing give it up for a while.

She came to fame by winning Unearthed on JJJ many years ago, yet she paid out on those artists who won Australian Idol as not being true performers (personally I detest Australian Idol, but I think the pots calling the kettle black here).

Gary although I see the point you are trying to make, you are probably a little bit off. Unearthed was an opportunity for unsigned acts performing/writing ORIGINAL music to get exposure via triple j. There was no guaranteed record contract waiting for them at the end of it, and apart from the concert celebrating the actual naming of the winners at each event, no organised national tour for them to be a part of.

Missy, Grinspoon, Killing Heidi, etc, all had to put in the hard yards and tour their backsides off to get to the point they are now (although Killing Heidi seemed to take a proactive decision to head in a commercial direction and went downhill very quickly). And in most cases, start off on an independent label before moving onto bigger deals. Not to mention in Missy's case, she won unearthed when she was 16 and it was her sister who entered her into the competition unbeknown to her.

AND FINALLY Missy has now written something like 2 full albums and 2 eps of original music, one album going something ridiculous like 6 or 7 times platinum. That's an amazing achievement for a songwriter and will provide her with some longevity, unlike the manufacturing line that pumps out the one track wonders from Idol.

I know I sound like i'm beating the Missy Higgins drum a bit, but it just seems to be part of our culture that when someone has worked their way to the top like she has, people seem to want to cut them down. I'm guilty of it too, but I think she deserves a bit more credit than being associated with the Idol crowd.

My view is though (I'm not a Missy hater or lover) while she had it harder than the "Idol" guys, she still had help once she was unearthed and her comments about the "Idol" groups do somewhat include herself to a degree.

While Missy Higgins isn't my kind of music, Zak raises a good point. She's what the Aussie music industry (and the global music industry in general) needs more of. Original artists writing and performing their own stuff. Good on her for doing it. Without poeple like this, the Aussie music scene is/will become a stagnant, repetative, novalty 'flavour of the week' scene like the US charts.
