Topic: New router - xbox & PC not talking now

I had a Netgear DG834g that died on me last night. Went today to buy a new Billion 7300g in it's stead.

I have my modded xbox hooked up to a netgear wireless access point, and used to stream movies across the network. Now, with the new router, the xbox can't detect anything anymore.

I've updated the xbox's IP address to fit in the new IP pool or whatever it's called with the new router, but yeah, when I go into XBMC and go to "Workgroup (SMB Network Share)" like I used to, it says "Workgroup not found". Nothing else has changed except for the router.

I don't recall having to screw around with it when I had the Netgear router. I plugged it in and it detected fine. Anyone got any ideas?

Also - LOL PHARCYDE XBOX QUESTION THREAD.

Yeah I did that. Still no dice. Should I mess around with the gateway / DNS settings? (I made the gateway 192.168.1.254 - default router IP - is this correct?), but DNS I haven't touched. Do I need it considering I'm not going online with it?

yer, thats teh correct gateway

if you make the xbox 192.168.1.1, u should be laughing

the billion likes to dhcp from 192.168.1.100 onwards
so anything less than that should be fine

u dont need the dns

what happens when you ftp to xbox form pc?
no go?

Ok, I just tested the Netgear WAP on my Xbox 360 and it detected the network fine. So it can't be the Netgear WAP, so I'm assuming there's something I'm doing wrong on the Xbox itself?

It was just one that I assigned to it - 192.168.1.115. The modded xbox is set to .113.

When I tried to not set it statically, and just have it auto assign via DHCP, it just gave it an IP of 0.0.0.0 - that's not right, is it?
