it's not a matter of whether you own the house or not, you're still drawing water from the city's supply, so you should be trying to conserve it regardless of whether you own the house or rent it

Meh, my showers haven't changed in duration since the newest restrictions kicked in.
I just use half my usual water pressure and turn the tap off at moments when running water isn't needed. |

i thought house renters had to pay for water usage, and it was just units, etc that didn't

A lot depends on the terms of your lease. If water usage is included in your lease, then you have to pay for the excess usage when the owner gets the bill. If it is not included on your lease, then you don't have to pay for water consumption.

I suppose if you live on the Gold Coast & Sunshine Coast then you'll be OK since their dams are quite full, 85%+ I believe and I don't even think they have Level 5 restrictions.

i was horrified to see we use 700litres a day in our household (between 3 of us) ive never had longer than 3 minute showers, and wifey is pretty good these days will have to check for leaks and what decimate is up to i thought we'd be right for 140litre per person. . .. . . |

We use just over 560litres a day, which is just on 140 per person but we have 5 people here at the moment and that brings it down to like 112 litres per person!
Would be so much easier if we didn't have to wear clothes last edited by Kat at 20:35:15 25/Apr/07 |

hardly drink any water that doesn't come premixed in a beer bottle, soft drink can, gatorade or red bull an I always try an shower with a chick to conserve water. I should get a medal.... |

when the average house in a slum costs nearly half a million dollars and rising i think its only fair that the owners cop it sweet. The Cap Gain should cover it.

160L on average per day between 2 of us so 80L per person is pretty good. We also don't go to great lengths either just a few smart things;
1) If it's yellow let it mellow 2) Stack the dishwaser until it's full 3) Use grey water from washing machine to water lawns 4) Have sex0r after drying off instead of in the shower Few basic things and we're doing our fair share.. also my kat.zip is nowhere near 5yrs old;

Last I heard Bayside was only on level 2 still cause their water comes from Straddie. Poor Brisbane, all the lawns here are starting to look munted, first real visible impact I've seen of the restrictions besides a few extra dirty cars.

My family home, has a pool, spa, no water saving shower heads, we don't shower with a bucket, we have a jetski which needs water to be cleaned out (otherwise it f***s the engine), and 5 adults in the house. And we got a letter asking for advice on how to save water - because we are below average. (The average was calculated using 4 people instead of 5). How good are we?!

Urine is clean anyway and sterile unless you have an infection when in your bladder, so like it's probably cleaner than the water that's probably sitting in there 'mellowing' anyway.

we always flush even if its number 1. last year our toilet broke so we had to flush it with buckets. we would leave the urine in there for a day or two and it would stink the whole f***en house up. not doing that again.

Good work those trying to save water. I've personally tried to cut down on water usage but falling asleep in the shower doesn't reflect well on the water readings.
Be assured your state government is very proud of you saving water and is doing as an entity sfa to save it :) |

Sounds like I'm in for a nice shock when I return in 2 weeks...
Water use is really flippant over here in Canada (for obvious reasons) I heard the situation was bad -- just not quite to the stage of not flushing piss. |
