Woah... totally different from anything they've done before, which is probably what they were trying to do. It's a really weird mix of sound and not really any genre. On first listen, it's pretty hard to get into. Standout track is definitely the first single "Straight Lines" and "All Around the World". Hopefully it'll grow on me. |

Yeah, I found it really bizarre at first, but I left it on repeat and listened to it all day one day while I was working and it really grew on me, theres a lot of catchy tracks in there. The whole album has a real whimsical feel to it I reckon, its weird and quirky but definitely grew on me. I've totally got "If you keep losing sleep" stuck in my head, its ridiculously catchy.

Is the whole album just a remix of cold chisel songs?
If so.. yawn... (casa style) |

It's growing on me, but I think they soared pretty high with Diorama, so it's hard to not compare it.
I do dig Straight Lines though, very cool. |

Yeah I rike it. Can't say it's "better" or "worst" than Diarama because it's different (in a good way).

It was a little better than i expected but that last song is terrible. The sooner they go back to ripping off Nirvana the better.
Do yourselves a favour and buy the new Nine Inch Nails album instead! |

I reckon the first single sucks ass. Its like he trying to hard to be different, just play some goddamm guitar.
Think he's been hanging around with that paul mac guy too much. |

Anyone else going to the silverchair gig?
Pretty cool that they are gonna debut most of the songs for us Brisbanites! (Unless they did it for the Newcastle New Years show). Just like everything with Silverchair....for me....it sounds horrible at the start, then it grows on me tremendously. Cant wait for Friday. |

I thought the new album wasn't too bad myself. I was never really a big fan of a fair chunk of their other work, but this is alright.
It's got a decent amount of refinement, but still somehow feels like it has some Paul Mac influence that while not unwelcome, doesn't seem like a true Silverchair basis. |

I dunno, I just don't click with the Young Modern Album. I still reckon FrogStomp is by far the best album. I think Daniel Johns was a better song writer when he was a depressed stoned teenager. But then again, how can you be depressed if you've been shagging Natalie Imbruglia. I'd be prancing round like a poofter in video clips to if I was hitting that.

Are silverchair Australia's answer to Bon Jovi or a huge turd I can't decide. The new song they have out makes me itch.
