So, I have wondered for a while now why there is an Albatron sign along compton rd in one of the small industrial estates... Anyone know what it is? Do they do their own distrobution?

Its on the Woodridge side, near the gateway extension.

interesting, considering they're a fairly secondstring manufacturer... I just haven't ever seen a warehouse for a specific brand... ie. There is no Gigabyte warehouse in Brisbane that I'm aware of...

My understanding is that it's the old AMI Wholesale group. They're one of the major Albatron distributors in Queensland (if not Australia).

If it's correct, and the same guy still owns the place, then they're a good mob to deal with.

it use to be ami as they use to deal with albatron/geil/ocz and use to be the brisbane branch for ami sydney. though they merged off and now are albatron as thats all they deal with now

After the 6600GT's, I wouldn't be suprised if there is one in every major city across the world.

The directors of ABT distribution and AMI Computer Services both had a falling out and decided to go separate ways. ABT took on the distribution of Albatron for Queensland, and delegated multiple sub-distributors to do their dirty work. Auscomp Computers (down the road from Umart), X-IT Distribution over at newmarket, and I believe there was one more but I'll be buggered if I can remember who! ABT Computer Services still does wholesale, and does wholesale Albatron products, however their major business was moved to sub distributors so their money isn't tied up in warehoused stock.

is that a good enough explanation of that ABT is? :) do I win a prize?! :D
