My parents PC is unexpectedly turning off when my sister is playing games. i think its a PSU Problem. Is there any software util that can monitor my PSU load to test this theory.
Could it be anything else? Its never been overclocked Computer is only about 9mths old. Stats: PSU is just a standard 430w that came with their coolermaster case AMD64 3600 am2 Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 1gb Geil pc4200 7600gt pci-e 2 x 160gb WD Sata2 HDD |

i had the exact same problem, turning off when playing games. Ended up being a PSU on the way out.

Is there any software util that can monitor my PSU load to test this theory. Get Speedfan and/or Everest and watch your voltages while playing a game (dual-monitor helps for this). If your voltages sag too much, then it's very likely a PSU issue. Speedfan Download Everest Download |

While it's most likely a hardware failure of some sort, just check the bios and make sure noone has fiddled with the temperature control features.
PSU is just a standard 430w that came with their coolermaster caseHopefully this time you'll buy something decent. |

Swap out the power supply and see if it helps. My guess is power supply problem.

Bring the PSU into CA an ask for me and I'll test the PSU for you on the spot

Thanks Guys, I've subbed in my spare Antec TruPower 350w in the meantime. Seems to have solved the problem.
I'm going to run back to where they bought it from during the week under warranty. |

had a system do that and it was because the heatsink was so full of dust and crap that it was overheating

My computer use to turn itself off sometimes, usually while playing games. Mobo had fried. I had a GA-M57SLI S4 which was behaving oddly in games (notably WoW). Turns out the heatsink on the PCI-Express voltage regulator circuits wasn't attached properly and caused the circuits to catch fire. Toasted a rather expensive system :( (this is why, if you're only using 2 attachment points, have them work in opposition, not cantilevering the heatsink off the far side of the circuits :( Cheers, Ges |
