I worked at a Doner Kebab (ie: bread-wrap kebab) store in Wynnum, and I can tell you the hygiene levels are usually quite poor. I once bought a kebab from a store in St Lucia and there were flies crawling all over the meat, and the person who served me handled my food without gloves. I pretty much threw it in the bin straight away.

I used to work in a kebab shop and i never handled kebabs without my bare hands.

kebabs in brisbane generally are very bad. the ones at toombul dont rate at all compared to almost every non uncle tony's-esque type of kebab shop in sydney. kebabs as big as my forearm were almost standard fare for $7, in brisbane you're lucky to get 3 slices of tomato, a morsel of meat making it about as thick as a sandwich.

I agree with the St Lucia comment - the one on Hawken Drive across from the Coles is pretty rank - everytime I've been past it always had flies buzzing around the meat. The shop front is too open to keep them out I guess, but still...

there is really good one at capalaba i am not sure if it is still there was 6 months ago the place was emaculate nothing dirty all of the staff had gloves one. and it tasted good.
