Yes, you do.
You just have to write to your insurance company and ask them to cancel the policy. It's an idea to include a proof of sale, as this may make them void any cancellation fee's they might charge you. |

scuzzy I thought you were < 25?Only by a year at 24, and for a Toyota Sera, there are very few full comp insurance options available. Gladly with a father in the motor industry, he tends to know a lot of people from various related companies, dad power contacts yo. I think infi is sugesting that just by taking shannons you're paying for it.By buying an less known import car I'd be paying for a lot of extra things over a regular car anyway, I expected to be hit with hilarious insurance costs, however my Shannon's quote is cheaper than my Just Car quote. And on the same note of "Paying for it" I know someone who is with Just Car and is paying for it, three months later the f***wits still haven't fixed his car. last edited by scuzzy at 12:10:40 12/Apr/07 |

I'm currently with Just car for my '94 GTS skyline (naturally aspirated). I'm rating 1 and getting stung for $980 p.a. with $1500 excess on an agreed value of $15k.
It's the annual payments that s*** me the most - monthly would benefit me greatly but JCI doesn't seem to do it. I'm 24 in Sep - so no one else seems to want to touch me. Rang up suncorp after the last insurance thread and they want you to be atleast 25 as well. I currently have house and contents with RACQ I don't know if i could somehow try to use that as leverage to have all my insurance with suncorp. I'm yet to try that ryno insurance. Insurance is coming up for renewal at the end of next month so I'm currently shopping around. last edited by Fizzer at 12:49:08 12/Apr/07 |

not bagging you here, seriously, what prompted you to buy a natually aspirated skyline? I thought the whole purpose of skylines was the turbo.

After you pay the next years insurance why don't you open an account and every month transfer the loot into that (980/12) so at the end of the 12 months you have the cash ready to go.

Basically I didn't go out specifically looking for a skyline. I was just after a decent 6 - I saw a few BA XT's and that with a heap of k's on - the particular skyline seemed like the best option for my price range. As far as NA 6's go I'm quite happy with it. In hindsight I prolly woulda saved the extra 5k or so and gone the turbo. But insurance was a concern (lol irony). In hindsight I can't say that I would get another import due to insurance and the fact that my alarm is playing up and can't get a replacement on account of me not speaking chinese :P |

understood. I am also a big fan on NA 6s. I prefer my falcoon because of the ease of parts and they are a hell of a lot easier to fix/get someone to fix.
Also, age kills cars more than kays do. I'd rather buy a 4 year old car with 200,000klms on the clock than a 12 year old car with 50,000klms. |

wow, that's impressive! is that for work? If so, do you get Kilometre allowance?
If i was doing that many kays i would look to have the cheapest vehicle possible to run, own and maintain, that is one i could put up with. LPG Falcon i suppose. But then again, i've got my LPG falcon despite only doing a fifth of that. How does the car go on the fuel (L/100klms?) |

It's just to get to work and back :P. I was living and working down the Gold Coast. About 6 months I moved back to Ippy (lol) and bought a house.
I now commute each day. I get roughly 10k's / ltr. I'm now thinking that a lpg falcon would be the way to go but I'd sorta see it as a bit of a downgrade. Not to mention I've just forked out 2k for mags not that long ago. |

10k's to the litre is excellent for a six city driving.
if its highway/ish then thats a bit average an lpg falcon is a totally different kettle of fish than a skyline. downgrade in some areas yes. get ready to feel like you're driving and old man car |

yeah don't get me wrong scuzzy, service on claims is very important. in the end if you are happy with the price on a value for money basis why quibble over a few bucks, when you know your claim will be processed quickly.

whoop: they aren't too bad - 2.5L RB25DE is still a decent engine, with 140kW.
So an R33 GTS nonturbo would be approx. as quick as a regular falcodore, especially one from the same era. |

Well a 1994 Falcon (ED) Is 149kw and about 1400kgs
Or a 1994 Falcon (EF) Is 157kw and about 1500kgs What's a 94 skyline? (i have nfi too) So an R33 GTS nonturbo would be approx. as quick as a regular falcodore, especially one from the same era. Finally someone who thinks right. Is yours an ex taxi? I hear you can have a heap of issues with them?Yes, mine is an ex-taxi. I used to be a taxi mechanic so I know what issues to look out for. I bought one of the cars I looked after cos I knew it was gold. Most ex-cabs are orange steaming piles of knackered poo. But mine was a good one, for lots and lots of different reasons which I can list but i suspect no-one wants to hear. |

so pretty similar to an ED then, power and weight. The only thing the ED would have an advantage on is the ED has about 350nm of torque whereas the skyline would only have about 220nm. Big difference in whether you have to wind the revs up to get it moving or not.

Yeah skyline redline is quite a bit higher than the 4k on falcons and shiz (Think its about the 7/8k rpm) Can't remember exactly but i remember thinking jeez this revs hard :P
I'm by no means anti ford. I had a zj fairlane with a 302 previously and would prolly go a xr6 turbo over a GT-R or something. Spoiler: rename thread to skyline vs falcons kthnx |
