Spoiler alert!!!

Don't watch these if you haven't seen the movie yet. Not that it would ruin anything anyway.

Looks like Australia will be getting the split release of the movie.

Actually, looks like *everywhere* will get the split release...people are complaining that a three hour, ten minute session is too long. Hence the poor takings in opening weekend.

'Death Proof' is pure Tarantino, dialogue-driven exposition (with a nice car chase in the end). If you don't like those parts from his previous films, you won't like this one either. :)

On the other hand, 'Planet Terror' is mindless zombie splatter violence, with some girlie eye-candy. A bit beyond 'From Dusk Till Dawn,' to give you an idea.

With the split release, "Grindhouse: Death Proof" will get released first, and then "Grindhouse: Planet Terror" a couple of months later.

3hour+ movies are a detriment to today's theatre-going attention spans and Megaplex Theatre ticket sales. (you can screen two 90-minute mainstream movies in just over the same time for this particular low-attending, cult fare)

Not saying it's a good thing (it would be a disappointment for Rodriguez and Tarantino...but they knew 'Grindhouse' was purely an experiment).

Admittedly, I had to be choosey when to see it - couldn't go during a week night since it would finish way too late. The lack of a genuine interval kinda sucks too - chance to stretch the legs, drain the lizard etc. In my case, I'd already seen the fake trailers (except for 'Machete') so I went in between movies. :)

Also, it seemed kind of strange to see these movies )that are meant to seen in a dingey, grimy pov theatre) in a modern, digital sound, DLP-equipped Megaplex cinema
