Only the bravery of Trooper Chris Finney, 18, stopped further attacks. He jumped on a burning vehicle to radio in a Mayday report and call off the strike, dragged a badly wounded comrade from the inferno, then went back in for L/Cpl Hull. He was injured and won the George Cross.

That is pretty nuts too. That guy has some balls...at 18 too

Anyone else notice the subtitles spell the trucks firstly as "reverts" then "revets" then "rivets" then "revetments"... not good journalism.

on ten news now
unfortunatly pilots miss interperate orange markings which are clearly british forces ... they have recived little if any training on what british vehicles look like

why would they need training on what british tanks looks like when they are clearly asking the hotel whether there are any friends in the area.
pilot is described as a cowboy

You can see and here that the pilot is hessitant / asks for ages whether its friendly and then swears etc when he finds out that it was friendly units

Sounds to me like it was the controller's fault. Pilot kept asking for confirm and got the go ahead so what are you supposed to do?

Well they eventually noticed they were friendlies.... so I guess look harder before they shoot??

I suppose in a war zone you take the stance that whoever shoots first wins. Clearly just a massive communications f***up by not asking for friendly confirmation in the right area.

...and that's why i'd never go to war.

I couldn't face the fact that my actions could destroy the lives of so many people, and i'm not just talking about killing people...

Does Iraq even have armoured units left? I was pretty sure that the US got them all in the armoured turkey shoot that was the first 3 days of desert storm part II

That's what I thought; I was like how the f*** is there anything bigger than a dude with an AK47 in a closet left in the country.

Turns out the footage is like 4 years old.

i think the big stink over this is that he wasn't given permission to engage by the forward air controller. also how would you feel being the pilot, almost straight after his second run at the armored vehicles, he finds out they are friendlies.

typical americans though, shoot first ask questions later. though it really says something about the american psyche when they cheer and hoot when they're killing evil iraqis and start crying when they find out they've killed allies.
