ATM we are using Sharepoint for our Intranet site, we are having problems that people are not getting into the habit of actually using it.. So what i would like to do is put a comic/joke or something, and i want it to change daily, i was wondering if there a website out there which will give me a cool linky so it i can just add the link to the intranet and it automaitcally shows it....

yes but i want it so i can show it on our intranet as i dont want them to go directly to the site or they will be sitting there for hours reading comics instead of doing work..

Becareful doing that because you should reference the site you get them from to avoid copyright issues.

I think that if you do link them adding the hosting is only right but the author.

operator wrote a perl script that crawls teh interweb stealing comics and putting them in a nice email for us all at work

i am now of the opinion that internet comics are funny like 1% of the time, and fillers teh other 99%

Deploy group policy that sets homepage to intranet or deploy some fancy squid skills so that it redirects them to the intranet the first time they try to browse the internets.

Jokes will not make people do what you want them to do.

We've got a randomimages directory where people copy funny images. A script picks a random image each time the intranet is loaded and displays it. You could probably do the same thing for your intranet but with a bunch of comics.

In fact I'm right now developing a new intranet which is very wiki-centric, and a person can insert a random image into any page by using [[randomimage]]. and [[doorcam]] will give you a live feed of the front door camera.

If you think I already have too much spare time I shouldn't tell you It'll even give you a clickable link to dial someone from the your telephone [[dial external:1 num:5552525]], or show your Live Gamertag or bring up a newsfeed, or any number of funky things.

I often think that people just laugh at comics like Penny Arcade because they are presented in the form on a comic. Sure they often make some kind of point, but it's not one you would piss yourself laughing at if it was written in an article.

I wrote a script years ago to include the latest dilbert comic on our intranet page, worked well

idol, i think that's the whole point of drawing comics, to provide a visual counterpart to the written word.

If I was having a conversation wiht someone and they said the joke, I would probably think it was great, but probably part of one longer conversation with more funny in it. But when you have to go somewhere just to hear that one joke and put it in context, it just seems strange someone went to all that fuss to put up that comic for that one-liner or whatever. "Hey look at me, my joke is so funny i'm gonna draw a picture to go with it! laugh please..."

A good short comic has to have a clever idea, because it has very little room for narrative and exposition to fall back on. Often Penny Arcade just restates the opinion that everyone is having. And that's it.

if you discount character humour as not legitimate you're basically saying the simpsons isn't funny
