finally got it today :D yipee

final specs are:

Video: albatron 7950gt
Ram: 2gb 800mhz giel ddr2
Hard drives: 160gb + 60gb
case: antec P160WF
power supply: e-power 570w
mobo: asus p5b
cpu: e6400

had little issue with raid etc but its all working awesome now :D cost about $1800 all up.

just a quick question about the video card. I use to have 9600xt and used the omega drivers, are the omega drivers better to use for nvidia or are there better drivers around? thanks :D

I have similar specs.

E6600, P5B deluxe, G.Skill 2x1GB 800MHz ddr2, leadtek 7950gt.

I've only use the official nvidia drivers. They work perfectly except for one bug, where 4:3 aspect ratio TV-out doesn't work properly unless you set the TV as the only display. They broke this feature quite a while ago and haven't fixed it.

Also, hopefully you won't have any stability issues, as some people reported problems with Geil 800MHz sticks combined with P5B boards. Can't remember the exact details but check out the official Geil forums for info.

What FPS are you guys pulling in games? Like Battlefield etc?

I don't play Battlefield. My card is the cheaper 256MB version (doesn't make much difference)

CSS: 150-300fps @ highest possible settings @ 1280x1024.
F.E.A.R: ~50fps @ same resolution, highest detail apart from 2xAA
Oblivion = owned outdoors at highest detail (~30fps)

Just use the nvidia forceware drivers, omega for older ATI cards can give great performance for but the latest gen cards the Nvidia drivers will give you the best results.

I was the one who ended up reOSing your system and spoke to you as you left... I know you had some probs today, not much I can do about some people :/ However next time you come in for anything tech related just ask for rubba or hermi (the other techs know who we are) and if we are in I'll try to help out out the best I can.

Glad to hear you have it all sorted and running nicely though.

Where do you work, CA?
Getting some friendly help and a warm smile with a new computer purchase, would be worth the extra money I'd have to pay by not going to Umart.
I'll see you in November rubba.

Seconded, the few guys have single handedly kept the shop respectable! Saved my ass and helped it way too much, if only they could the big one of the thin air and figure out what's wrong with my pc!

nope, I didn't
As far back as I can remember it's always simply been "pbcack"

p - problems
b - between
c - chair
a - and
k - keyboard

ahhh, the good old days of when I would add to peoples autoexec.bat and tell them to make sure they quoted that line to anyone who was giving them support
