No, seriously.

I noticed this the other day - I thought it was just an error, but tonights 6pm episode did it again and now I'm confident that Channel 10 are censoring the Simpsons.

Tonight's episode is the one where they go to the Flandererses beach house. Homer goes looking for illegal fireworks:
Let me have one of those porno magazines... large box of condoms... a bottle of Old Harper... a couple of those panty shields... and some illegal fireworks, and one of those disposable enemas. Oh, make it two.
Now, at first I thought my memory was failing me when this scene didn't happen, thinking I'd gotten it confused with one of the other 400-odd episodes - but LO AND BEHOLD, sure enough later in the episode Marge comes in and goes through Homer's shopping to deliver a classic "I don't know what you've got planned for tonight, Homer, but count me out.".

Who do you complain to when they do stuff like this? I'm sure they have a complaints line the other way.

Well they didnt censor the bit later on where marge goes "I dont know what youve got planned for tonight homer but count me out" and you see the bags contents, tampons, condoms... and a box labeled "easy out enema".

I think i saw a thread on this the other day on ocau too http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showthread.php?t=543488
The episode that was on before - where Homer works as a sideshow freak - has the You know, the one with all the well meaning rules that don't work out in real life, uh, Christianity... line with the Christianity mention censored

Just googled and found this http://www.snpp.com/episodes/scg.html probably relevant to aus tv too.

Buy the dvds/get paytv for non-censored goodness.

Its not censorship , channel ten do it to every program. They cut small bits out of programs so they can fit extra adds in. It's all about the $$$

I'm all in favour of any censorship that censors the use of Christianity or Catholicism. But other than that I'm completely against censorship.

I think this particular case of censorship is stupid since you'd have to be pretty grown up to know what he's talking about. If your kid is old enough to watch the Simpsons but can't handle hearing the words 'porno', 'condom' or 'enema', you've failed as a parent.

Itchy and Scratchy are the biggest victims to the cutting room floor. My feeling though is that it's not ch10 doing it, but rather the package that they "bought" already having the editing performed. (to make it suitable for earlier, non-prime time airing)

There's still morons out there that think it's Ch10 that shortens the opening credits of the episodes sometimes, just for more ad time.

This happens quite a bit. If you ever see the Simpsons on Fox or from a torrent you will notice this a bit, particularly in some of the earlier episodes.

u getting 2 foxtel boxes?

as for the ads, cant say i even really notice them

admittedly when i watch tv, i dont sit there glued to the screen, getting upset if my program takes a break for 30 seconds here and there

perhaps ive been watching tv wrong all these years

to be honest, dont really watch that much tv any more, but i sure as heck wouldnt bother with just free to air

need my additonal sports/comedy/music channels, just for when i do feel in the mood for some tv

Last time I looked to get anything decent from Foxtel (ie, movies) you needed to spend about that much

That for digital with a PVR?

Considering you only have 2-3 premium movie channels that you can pay extra for, and no HD at all (not even HD passthrough of FTA networks), forget it. :)

yer, foxtel sd is pretty dodgy on some channels (others pretty good), dunno what the moofie channels are like for quality

id never have enough time to sit in front of the tele for 3 hours in a row anyway (sux that moofies go so long)

no digital pvr, but my laptop is pretty much hooked up to the tele (vga cable) whenver im home

we'd watch more media of the laptop, than we do straight foxtel

when hd moofies become more freely available, ill get around to building a permanent pvr

its definately the future, i see sony tvs are already coming out with internet links, so they hook striaghtup without the use of pc

one cut I notice is in "Grampa vs Sexual Inadequacy"

"unsatisfied sex life?"
"yes, but don't you say that word"
"what, sex? what's wrong with hearing your elderly father talk about sex... i had sex"

third line censored... weird one to censor considering all the other mentions of the s word in the ep

I pay close to 80 bux for all channels except the movie ones. for 50 bux you get all the regular channels but you don't get MTV, comedy, animal planet or CI which are awesome channels.

Um, I think spending $100 on Foxtel a month could quite easily happen. Last time I had it, it was $59 a month for the basic connection. We had an additional $10 satelite rental fee because there was no cable in our street (it was a private street), an extra $10 for a bundle pack (comedy chanel, ESPN, Disney and some other stuff. So we were sitting on $79 a month. An extra foxtel box was $12 a month at the time, so one more content pack would push it over $100 a month.

Generally Simpsons eps will be cut if they're shown at 6pm, with the uncut versions shown after 7:30pm....however that's not the case with a lot of eps - there's quite a few that Ch 10 have never shown uncut.

If it's that important to you, you'll fork out for the DVDs..
